Pentagram

On Sunday 1/17/10 at BB King's, vocalist Bobby Liebling once again proved why he is still the front man of one of the most influential doom metal bands ever, Pentagram. Taking the stage and delivering like a hammerstrike, the band laid down a great set covering all the "hits" (full set list below). Liebling was seemingly (and later confirmed in conversation) ecstatic to have a captive audience in attendance for him and the rest of the band 30+ years after their formation. From the peering whites of his eyes to his puppet like movements, Pentagram was once again better than almost anything I've shot in years.

The Gates of Slumber opened the show. No pictures of them, but more of Pentragram with the set list below...

No Be Forewarned?

Love how all of these cult doom/speed/whatever metal bands are always booked at BB King's, of all places. Do random tourists from Times Square ever wander in by mistake?

BB King himself is a HUGE death/doom/black metal fan.

"Somehow, I can't picture that, 11:33."

Turns out, you're right. BB King is mainly a fan of the blues and has no interest in metal. It also turns out that he has almost no involvement in "BB Kings Blues Club". As a matter of fact, "BB Kings" is owned by a scummy Israeli family who would probably book a white power band if it meant they could make a buck off the show.

Same setlist as the Philly show. No Be Forewarned,no Last Days Here, no Lazy Lady, no Star Lady. I was beyond psyched to see them but their setlist could have been expanded.
