My name is Maynard James Keenan. Welcome to the party that goes on in my head 24 hours a day. Welcome to PUSCIFER, my creative subconscious. Welcome to my island of misfit ideas who've found no home with TOOL, A PERFECT CIRCLE, or CADUCEUS. Life is too short NOT to create something with every breath we draw. Puscifer celebrates this creative process. We embrace all mediums. Music, film, cuisine, winemaking, useless stuff made in china by slaves who beat baby seals, and very specific forms of martial arts that are completely ineffective but appear mysterious and edgy. There are more mediums, but spell check doesn't work very well on this profile thingy. Welcome to our clown car. Love, Maynard & Puscifer. Booty Bass from Jerome, Arizona.
I love Maynard James Keenan and all of his musical projects, but I am particularly intrigued by the whole Puscifer concept. Sure, it seems silly and a little schlocky, but it's such a fun concept that I can't help but give it huge props. Maynard is the only permanent member of the troupe, but there's a huge cast of characters in the rotation. And comedy fans with a keen eye and a good memory might remember that Puscifer's first documented appearance (with Maynard and Tool's Adam Jones) as a real entity occurred in the very first episode of Mr. Show (video below). Puscifer has NEVER appeared in New York City. But that's about to change when they play the Grand Ballroom on March 11th and then the Apollo Theater on March 13th. There's also a TBD NYC date on March 12th. There's a presale happening RIGHT NOW (password = METRO), but act fast because it ends in a matter of hours!

UPDATE: Tickets are now on general sale.

I got a chance to review both of the Portland Oregon shows (the only photo pass in the club). It was really cool - great show both nights (reviews posted to my webpage). The wine tasting (on night #1) was excellent.

Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2010 2:30 AM

8:27 - fuck off and stop generalizing. go back to whatever shitty town you're from, you obviously don't know enough about New York.

Posted by 3:15 | January 24, 2010 8:37 PM

nyc! fuck the rest and 8:37.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2010 12:41 AM

are you kidding me 3.15???
Ufucking2??????? WTFFFFFFFFFFffffff

im not trying to shit on your musical tastes man, to each his own.
but if you start talking shit about Tool, at least have something to back it up with.
please at least check them out live at an indoor venue (& not in Texas ; ).

as an immediate alternative, get in a nice mood & listen to the 'Salival' album on headphones with closed eyes (lit as fuckkkk).

be part of the solution my brother,
we welcome you into the fold.

ps. if The Edge's guitar playing strikes a chord with you, Adam Jones takes it to several other levels

i welcome comments/suggestions

Well I was just being facetious about that, but I honestly don't get the appeal of Tool unless it's for nostalgia's sake or you are actually in middle school. But that's just me!

Posted by 3:15 | January 25, 2010 7:29 AM

aight man,
we'll agree to disagree. we hear music differently.
i do hope you find a band that means as much to you as Tool does to their fans/friends tho, and give as a rewarding/intelligent experience for those willing to come along.
seeing them live feels like they take you on the journey with them as opposed to just performing before you.

over and out

NYC, for sure, will be the best crowd...there is no place better to play...the most electric, exciting and more than anything, best looking crowd around... ! ! ! !

Posted by Maynard | March 13, 2010 7:34 PM

thank you Maynard for having the courage to evolve ideas and express them through the mediums you are referring to. You are an inspiration in my life and I am now able to heal myself of all pain physical or emotional because of what I have allowed myself to see through what you are trying to show yourself.
