Spoon Transference

"Spoon's critical acclaim is almost comically universal. In December the online review aggregator Metacritic named Spoon the best artist of the decade, above acts like Radiohead and the White Stripes. In March the group will headline Radio City Music Hall. Though the band is now spread out around the country -- only Mr. Eno is in Austin; Mr. Daniel moved to Portland, Ore. in 2005; Mr. Harvey is in Dallas; and Mr. Pope is "intentionally homeless," he said -- it has a palpable cohesion thanks to Mr. Daniel's rigorous songwriting and pared-down aesthetic. They wear button-down shirts onstage and have no notable haircuts." [NY Times]
Spoon's new and seventh album, Transference is out on Merge Records on January 19, 2010. You can listen to the first single at NPR. A trailer for the album along with the tracklist and currently known dates below...

That's great for them! Radio City is a really lame/stuffy place to see a show. The ushers are such a buzz kill when you are trying to stand and enjoy the concert.

Love Spoon, but I always found them a bit boring live.

Rumor has it that I own my very own monkey butler and he lives in my butt.

If Spoon's acclaim is "comically" universal, that's only because they're so unworthy of it...

Is Spoon really big enough for radio city?

Their last four albums have been damn good. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited for this LP.

Anyone who thinks music has gone to shit needs to listen a bit harder, especially if they are under the age of 25 and into free jazz, kraut rock, etc, etc.

Spoon: keep up the good work.
