Them Crooked Vultures

Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he was invited to join Them Crooked Vultures.

The age of the supergroup has returned. In the late 60s it seemed that every top musician was closing ranks, with the likes of Cream, Traffic, Big Brother Holding Company and more taking the music world by storm.

Last year the trend suddenly re-emerged as the likes of The Dead Weather, Monsters Of Folk and Them Crooked Vultures released celebrated albums.

Formed by Josh Homme and Dave Grohl, the American pair turned to Led Zeppelin bass player John Paul Jones to complete the trio. Releasing their debut album it seems as if the band could be an ongoing project.

However in a new interview former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he could have potentially joined the band. Speaking to the Daily Mail the iconic musician revealed that he had dinner with Dave Grohl after last year's Grammy awards when the project was mentioned. [Clash]

Them Crooked Vultures have some upcoming North American shows scheduled. They're playing Coachella in April, and returning to NYC even sooner. The supergroup returns to Roseland Ballroom (where they played their first NYC show in October) on February 8th (that is soon!). Tickets ($49.50) go on sale Saturday at 10am.

The NYC show is two days after the band play Saturday Night Live (Ashton Kutcher will host).

And the NYC show is one of three upcoming live shows the band is playing in February. Tickets are also going on sale Saturday for gigs in Charlotte and Atlanta. All dates below...

Them Crooked Vultures - 2010 Tour Dates
February 6 - SNL
February 8 - Roseland Ballroom in New York
February 10 - the Fillmore in Charlotte NC and
February 11 - the Tabernacle in Atlanta.

JPJ was the right choice for this band.

why the hell would they play roseland again 4 months later? I was there the first time and it was awesome but why would I pay 60 some odd dollars for a ticket to see the same thing so soon, its not like they are going to have different songs to play, atleast if they would have played in a small venue like bowery I'd be enticed to go

$50? Nope!!

post updated. The NYC show is right after they play SNL, and the other two shows are (supposedly) the only other two shows they're playing.

Pretty typical sentiment from a bunch of vegans, hehe. Why would they play Roseland again? Why not a smaller venue? I already saw them at Roselend.
Plenty people haven't seen them yet and after one NYC appearance, it's not the time to start playing smaller rooms. It's not all about you. If it were, I hardly think being a professional entertainer would prove very lucrative. Oh, and btw, some people like to eat meat. And animals breath oxygen and emit CO2 while plants breath CO2 and emit oxygen. So...it's a little counter-intuitive to save the animals and eat the plants. Food for thought anyway. Pun intended.

worst band ever

Dave Grohl ruined QOTSA and turned Josh into a rock star. At least the 1st QOTSA LP is awesome. Dave's a great drummer, but he needs to stop filling in for every band on Earth.

they could have atleast played T5 to change it up a little bit

Posted by Anonymous | January 22, 2010 11:52 PM

I strongly disagree, 8:00 pm! Songs for the Deaf was amazing! IMO Josh ruined QOTSA when he kicked out Nick Oliveri who held about 95% of the personality and drive of that band! they're much worse off with out him, especially that last record which was baisclly eagles of death metal 2.0!

8:00-you have no clue what your talking about.

Live Nation still selling WTF
Its not FF LZ or QOTSA.
Its a bunch of guys actually getting a chance to chill. Chill with them again at Roseland or wait till they may gel and their sound ratchets up to that mega status. I like when its raucous unsure and getting together. Listen to the first live shows with the delicious mistakes and miscues of every great band just evolving.

the show last night packed a wallop!

Uhhhhhh - I think you got the facts wrong, McCartney asked if he could join and was turned down - not the other way around. No complaining about Nick being tossed.

Oh, and what about those question marks on Sunday's text in the concert poster below? No, that isn't saving a spot for a Smiths reunion or U2 debut on the Coachella stage, it's the way that Yorke presents himself as a solo star, the marquee at his Orpheum concert had the same punctuational flourish.
