Sam Amidon will open for Beth Orton at her City Winery and The Bell House shows next week.

Shahzad Ismaily usually plays with Doveman (some connections between Beth Orton/Doveman/Shahzad/Sam Amidon and others are laid out here), but possibly not tonight, as he's scheduled to play at Monkeytown (which is closing) with Mike Wexler, Jolie Holland, Garrett Devoe and a "surprise guest".

Jan 24th is the space's last night. Before that you can catch "WOODS FAMILY CREEPS" - "Brooklyn quartet Woods explore their jammier, improvisational leanings in an intimate setting with visuals" - on Monday, January 18th.

Holy Fuck are DJing in Princeton,

Charlie Hunter continues his Rose Live Music residency.

The Joy Formidable play their fourth of four NYC shows at Pianos tonight. Video from their gig last night at Union Hall, below...

Mammoth Grinder & Dead City at the charleston

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2010 4:07 PM

Which is a worser band name - Mammoth Grinder or Dead City? Mammoth Grinder is retarded, but Dead City is uncreative and useless.

Dead City is boring. Never heard the band, but the name is generic and its been used by other shitty bands before.

Jesse Timmendequas Child Care Services/Tainted Rub/Armpits Are the New Vaj at United Methodist Church. New Brunswick 11pm

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2010 7:51 PM

Is there really a band called "Jesse Timmendequas Child Care Services"?
That is pretty fucking disgusting and i can only imagine seriously hurtful to the family of Megan Kanka if they found out. I bet if one of the members of this band has a child in the future who is raped and killed they might think differently about poking fun here. Some things should really not be made light of.
