Orphan

Local street-toughs Orphan will team up with Baltimore-an ragers Dope Body to melt away the snow and turn the Ramiken Crucible (221 East Broadway, basement entrance on Clinton Street) into a 1000 degree sweatbox. $5 gets you in to tonight's show (2/10). The show is part of an exhibition for Gert & Uwe Tobias's work, "Come and See Before the Tourists Will Do - The Mystery of Transylvania", viewable at Team (83 Grand Street) from Feb 11 to Mar 13.
Orphan's Aborted By Birth is out NOW via From The Nursery Records. Dig on "Bogman" above. Dope Body released their cassette Twenty Pound Brick via Watercolor Recordings. Check out a couple tracks from that above.

So on one hand we have these clueless people who claim great musicians 'suck for the last however many years' without actually taking the time to listen to the albums and seeing the shows. (I recommend the brilliant "The River in Reverse.") On the other hand there are those who are stuck in the past and think bands like Animal Collective and Hot Chip have to be terrible because they don't get their music. Stick to recommending whatever music you like. If you're constantly feeling the need to say somebody sucks, chances are you're a talentless idiot.

Wonderful post and the location is beautiful and elegant in design and information and everything>>> to Favorites
Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
