Wayne Coyne's living room (via)
Flaming Lips

In addition to playing NJ, Ithaca, Bonnaroo (where they'll do Dark Side of the Moon), the Flaming Lips are playing a Central Park Summerstage show on Monday, July 26th. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 19th at noon.

They're also playing Poughkeepsie's Mid Hudson Civic Center on April 17th. Tickets go on sale March 8th at noon.

If you haven't already seen, pictures of Wayne Coyne's futuristic house in Oklahoma house have surfaced on the website of the architectural firm that designed it. And no, not the pictures of Wayne taking a bath on his lawn that people uncovered via Google Maps. Fitzsimmons Architecture has more photos of the inside like the one above.

"Having seen Coyne's appropriately trippy poop cave, it's got me wondering if other musicians' homes reflect their sensibilities as closely. Is John Mayer's house ordinary and forgettable on the outside but chaotically and impenetrably decorated on the inside? Does Prince's Minneapolis home have a bunch of sex swings? Yes, yes, I'm sure it does." [Gizmodo]
A video of the construction of the house in 2009 is below with all tour dates...

Ohhh sheeeit

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 7:21 PM

seriously, finally! i've been waiting for them to play summerstage for years!

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 7:35 PM

please let this not be a dark side of the moon thing

its been almost 4 years

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 7:35 PM

doesnt summerstage suck as a venue? I think I would have preferred an indoor show

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 7:42 PM

rules!

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 7:47 PM

nah, summerstage is actually pretty good for an outdoor venue. this is gonna rule

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 7:50 PM

7:42 sucks as a person...Summerstage is the greatest place on earth. If the greek gods descended upon us, deus ex machina style, the would really be doing it to come to Summerstage and chill. This should be everyone's cue to get their asses over there the moment it turns warm....ahhhh summer......

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 7:55 PM

this is like the only conceivable play they could probably play. it's like an outdoor theater tour.

i second the "please no dark side" move also. that would be lame for everyone who doesn't like the disco biscuits.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 9:50 PM

you guys do realize that Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest albums ever made. Try to categorize it with one of your hip lingo music terms......you can't. that's why it's great.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 10:40 PM

can someone confirm that theyre not playing their dark side of the moon cover before friday? i dont want to spend 40 + convenience charges to see them play that... it's been 4 years since theyve played nyc and i want to hear flaming lips songs.

and thank you 10:40 for putting us hipsters in our place.

Finally!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 11:23 PM

summer stage is the tits. seen so many great shows there. ahh summertime-this should be great

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2010 11:56 PM

these "summerstage is the greatest thing ever" guys must be organizers or managers or something

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 12:01 AM

nah prob just people that saw tv on the radio clear the rain out of the sky and fucking own the place.

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 12:22 AM

Summerstage is walking distance from my work, but still one of my least favorite venues in the city. The main problem is that the stage is too low. For an outdoor venue to be decent, the stage has to be high enough for everyone to see it, not just the people up front. That's one of the main reasons why McCarren Park was the best outdoor venue this city has ever seen. Festivals can do this, why not fucking Summerstage?

wow, all above comments are coming from people who imigrated from midwest six months ago or don't have ears. every experienced new yorker will tell you that summerstage has the most pathetic low level of volume on the planet.
a city hall guy stands by the sound person with a decibel monitor to insure that the mayor's friends on 5th ave and CPW won't make angry 311 calls. saw there dozens of shows at last 12 years and the only decent one was the first dinosaur jr.
reunion. even sonic youth sounded lame over there.
you kids are deaf and/or dumb.
last flaming show was at webster hall and that was great.

ithacaaaaaa

1. I'm glad the Dark Side haters won't be attending, more room for me.

2. Why does everyone seem to think the Webster Hall show on 4/1/06 was the last time they played in NYC? They did two nights at Hammerstein that September as well, one of which was the famed laser pointer experiment. Am I the only one who remembers those shows?

Posted by FRX | February 17, 2010 8:55 AM

I think it might be Dark side evening, the bill is announced on the website to run from 7 to 10, they usually play 1:30 hrs show tops

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 9:33 AM

9:33 openers...Im sure are in there!

*:55 they also did a free show at Gotham Night Club I think in 2007?

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 9:37 AM

Dark Side Of The Moon by Floyd = epic

Dark Side Of The Moon by FL - MEHpic

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 9:39 AM

this will be great. no doubt.

Posted by pm | February 17, 2010 10:09 AM

FRX you are right. i've met someone at the webster hall one and the 3 months of hard core kinky sex with her resulted with a severe loss of memory for anything else so i didn't remember that hammerstein came after.

does anyone have the password for "venue presale"?

Posted by me | February 17, 2010 10:26 AM

why the fuck are people jumping to conclusions that they're playing DSOTM?

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 10:28 AM

jumping to conclusions is what the internet is for, dammit!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 10:33 AM

What time do we drop acid?

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 12:38 PM

Anybody know what time the Central Park Summer Stage shows start on a week night?

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 2:44 PM

zzzzzz. who cares, flaming lips suck anyway

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 4:05 PM

they are also playing the Nateva Music Festival in Maine on July 3rd....

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2010 6:21 PM

Boy, I couldn't live like that. It's like the inside of a nonpareil.

Posted by silybmarin | February 17, 2010 8:39 PM

I saw flaming lips open for porno for pyros at roseland in 1993. They sucked.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2010 10:44 AM

do you guys think this will sell out really quickly? how many tickets would be available for a show like this? I don't get my check until next week, FFFFFUUUU
