High On Fire at Hammerstein (more by Paul Birman)
High On Fire

The number one complaint I heard when High On Fire played Hammerstein over two nights was how early they came on (pics from night one, and two). Problem solved.

High On Fire have announced a headlining tour in support of Snakes Of The Divine kicking off in Minneapolis on March 31st with a killer triple threat of support from Priestess, Black Cobra, and Bison BC. The tour includes an NYC date on 4/9 at Gramercy Theater which go on sale on 2/12 at noon. Full dates are below.

That jawdropper of a tour isn't the only set of dates on the calendar for High On Fire. The Oakland boys are on board to play the Harvest of Hope fest and the Action PR SXSW showcase at The Mohawk in Austin on 3/17. Priestess will be in Austin for SXSW as well, to play the Tee Pee showcase on March 18th at Habana Calle 6 (and a TBA day party on March 20th). Before SXSW Priestess will be in NYC to play MHOW on March 13th. Tickets are still available.

High on Fire's new album Snakes Of The Divine hits store shelves on 2/23 via E1. Download the first track, "Frost Hammer" above. The band is also streaming the title track from their new LP at

April 9th (High On Fire's Gramercy date) is one day before the BV-presents Weedeater / The Gates of Slumber / Black Tusk / Struck By Lightning melee at Studio At Webster Hall. Those tickets are on sale NOW.

Two of High On Fire's recent tourmates are on the road in April.

am i seeing things or is that a fucking nine string guitar?

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 2:46 AM

I know right. I was about to ask the same thing.

maybe the bottom 3 strings are doubled like a 12 string and the high 3 are normal. that way you can do the meedly meedlies on the high strings but when you play power chords on the low strings they're like huge and octaved. would probably sound especially badass when down tuned.

wow, what lame openers. matt pike really needs to take a long hard look at where HoF has gone the last few years and make some changes. they should be one the greatest rock bands touring out there right now, but instead they are playing to less people then they were five years ago. people are bored. i'm bored. priestess?!?! come on, they are a less then middling rock band. bison bc?!?! same shit. pick some openers with balls, not drum solos.

4:25 is correct

the High on Fire/Mono tour a couple of years ago was epic

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 9:06 AM

Jan Jan who do you recommend since you would make such a great tour organizer?

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 9:14 AM

6:35 is pretty wrong. Bison BC and Black Cobra are more than suitable openers.

HOF were an amazing band but the last record was eh. they lost something over the years. still great live but the recorded material is lacking, and this new songs just not that good. and aside from black cobra the openers stink. id love to see DOWN & HOF show....that would slay.

Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
