Javelina at The Charleston (more by Chloe Rice)
Javelina

Are we gluttons for punishment? That is the only way to account for the fact that Javelina will beat us down at TWO BrooklynVegan events in the coming weeks.

We are pleased to announce that Javelina will play one of the two stages at the BrooklynVegan Day Party at Emo's in Austin on 3/17 along with the previously announced Fucked Up and the incredible Torche.

Then, just a shade over one week after we destroy Austin as part of SXSW, BrooklynVegan and 1000 Knives will team up to present Javelina again, this time with another SXSW-er, Howl, as well as Sea of Bones and Flourishing at Cake Shop in NYC on 3/25.

More upcoming shows, flyers and videos, below...

A shade over two weeks after that, BrooklynVegan/Osiris will present Weedeater/The Gates of Slumber/Black Tusk/Struck By Lightning at The Studio at Webster Hall (4/10, tickets) and then two weeks to the day after THAT, Narrows will play NYC with new addition Acid Tiger at Cake Shop (4/24, tickets).

Howl recently announced their participation in Full Metal Texas during SXSW on 3/18 along with Darkest Hour, Iron Age, Naam, Your Demise and others. Full lineup is on the flyer below.

Your Demise will also play NYC with Circle of Contempt and The Judas Syndrome on Wed (Feb 24). Tickets are on sale.

Javelina/Howl and Full Metal Texas flyers, as well as a few videos, are below.

Javelina "Tyrants"

NARROWS "Gypsy Kids"

Weedeater - "God Luck And Good Speed" + "Wizard Fight" Live

Javelin is Todd P. approved. Javelina is not. So there.

Todd P's approval is not a good thing.

Javelina>Javelin. Trust me I've seen both. I've never wanted to hurt myself more than Javelin. Javelina hurt me against my will....

After canceling a November 16th performance at SUNY Purchase due to back problems, musician Dan Deacon has returned to full force. On Saturday, February 20th, the visiting alumnus played late into the night at the Stood Student Center [ed: pronounced "'st(y)ood"]. His set was jam-packed with the crowd participation he's well-known for. Turning the Stood into one massive dance party Deacon seemed at home among the current student body.

i think this band is the reason why phoenix is so good. their style is close enough to this that they could be this terrible, but somehow they're not.

Guggenheim billed it as a performance piece and it was just an installation. Resultingly, the crowd simply waited for the "show" to start, limiting anyone's ability to freely explore the space (the ground floor was packed with indian-style seaters, and the balconies were lined with people holding onto their spots like grim death.

it makes no sense for them to deconstruct the entire TD North venue to play a show the next night ~50 miles south at an amphitheater (which probably would require a different stage setup anyway). They'd play Providence or Mohegan Sun before that (and I think those are both highly unlikely).

i thought it was pretty amazing that these bands brought everyone to their feet in Carnegie Hall. Everyone was there with good vibes celebrating an amazing culture that embraces compassion and tolerance. I have no complaints other than the 2 hipsters behind me who had a comment about everything that was wrong with the venue. Why go?
