Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine

Jello is back, and now with a new full time venture, Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine. The band is Jello's "first full-time band" since fronting the Dead Kennedys, and features Ralph Spight (Victims Family, Freak Accident, Hellworms), Jon Weiss (Sharkbait, Horsey), Kimo Ball (Freak Accident, Carneyball Johnson, Mol Triffid, Griddle), and Billy Gould (Faith No More). Their debut album The Audacity of Hype hit late last year on Alternative Tentacles and features "Clean As A Thistle" above.

With Faith No More's reunion in full-swing (including Coachella), Bill Gould won't be present (but John Nichols will) when the band hits the road for a set of select dates in March which include Brooklyn Masonic Temple on 3/25, tickets are on sale.

its so weird seeing jello biafra being anti-government in 2010...he seems almost tame compared to some of the moveon.org or tea party crap thats been broadcast over the years.

What's even weirder is that things haven't changed much since Jello started ranting back in the 80's...

Jello was correct then and he's correct now, the arts scenes are more empty and meaningless than ever,

...if anything, they're worse now than they were in the '80s. Way worse

glad to see he's still doin it.

I wonder if they play any DK songs live?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2010 12:44 PM

so you didn't even bother to read the names of the clips posted i guess...

Posted by jkl | February 22, 2010 1:02 PM

Stupid name. It doesn't have the bite and sarcasm of the DK's.

The band should be called: Jello and the Waterboarders.

Of the DICK Cheney's. Of the Cheney Dicks or c'mon, I want JELLO to be his usual completely irreverent psycho ironic self.

The Cheney Dicks anyone??

Or The DEAD CHENEY'S.

Obviously there's a theme here...

Thats the truth. People may get tired of Jellos voice in a spoken word stand up but the guy is smart, persistent, and hes spot on with the truth in politics which is nice to see that hes humorous and still cares. That cant be said for the music today of smaller labels.

This show is going to be a blast. Hopefully some of the kids that went to see the "Dead Kennedys" at Irving a few years ago will come out and see how they can't exist without Jello.

The Jello-boarders.

Jello-Dicks??

The Cheney Heart Attack??

3:51, yeah there is a very sad reason why Piggy is not in the lineup (RIP) The new guitarist pulls it off perfectly. The challenge will be if he can write, if they choose to make a new album. Piggy was the creative soul of that band and wrote almost everything....

I was checking out setlists from other nights on the tour, they change it up. Some cities got Ravenous Medicine, Experiment, The Prow, Nothingface, Brain Scan, a few others.

It looks like there are a few set parts of the show, and a few spots where they rotate songs.

Jello Biafra is one of the country's most outspoken supporters of free speech and freedom. Its great news that he is back with full time band. All the best.

Not that I'm totally impressed, but this is a lot more than I expected for when I stumbled upon a link on Stumble Upon telling that the info is quite decent. Thanks.

great music club and our very survival is actually governed by rules, regulation and law. Take for example, traffic rule ensure that you don't end up as road-kill, International law ensure regional peace, and human rights ensure the survival of every individual.

Guggenheim billed it as a performance piece and it was just an installation. Resultingly, the crowd simply waited for the "show" to start, limiting anyone's ability to freely explore the space (the ground floor was packed with indian-style seaters, and the balconies were lined with people holding onto their spots like grim death.

Hey ya'll we lost another one.......but I'm glad to have grown up with gangstarr as representatives of this music that has an incredible history.....hip hop is a book that wrote itself and GURU was definetly one of its main characters.....we are all getting older.....and GURU is one of the MCs that added a soundtrack to our lives in the 80's and 90's.......the NAMES,PLACES and FACES come to mind when I hear a GANGSTARR track.........I thank GOD that he allowed GURU to shine in his short time...........REST IN EVERLASTING PEACE GURU
