Jonsi is def not bringing enough people to the show to justify Terminal 5's 5,000 capacity.

both t5 shows will sell out
Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2010 11:52 PM
seriously? damn.
Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2010 11:58 PM
sigur ros sold out 2 nights at united palace, which is like 4,000 capacity. it's not that much of a stretch. he doesn't need to sell it out to at least do well.
Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2010 11:59 PM
Like I said, NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Not T5!!!!!!!

Has anyone heard anything about the Ramones reunion?

can't imagine these shows selling out. His solo effort sold under 10K us
No way

i'm just wondering who thought minneapolis needed TWO shows?? while they are a stretch, i can see chicago, new york, boston getting decent draws...but...minneapolis?
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 4:58 AM
t5 has a capacity closer to 2800-3000.

I'm stoked about it. Hoping for Portland tickets (and maybe a photo pass).
@3:40am... um... his solo effort hasn't been released yet, dumb ass.

How many copies did Julian Casablancas solo album sell? He did 2 at T5...
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 9:34 AM
@934am--and neither show was anything close to a sellout
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 9:42 AM
Jonsi is the lead singer of a band that doesn't sell big amounts of albums in the USA. How is he going to sellout two nights in the rather large Terminal 5 building. He would be better off performing at Town Hall. He doesn't have a following...except maybe in Chelsea. LOL.
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 9:50 AM
wish he had chosen Town hall instead...
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 9:54 AM
@3:40 - his album hasn't even been released yet. how are you giving sale numbers? (i'm assuming you're talking about riceboy sleeps, but that was a different project all together)
@9:50 - what the fuck are you talking about? was that last part supposed to be a gay joke?!?
idiots

Sharon Jones presale for Apollo show going on now

I think I'd prefer to sit down if his music is at all similar to Sigur Ros. Am I getting old or does standing sound a bit tiring for this?
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 11:27 AM
the toronto venue sucks and i am shocked that they are booking 2 dates in each city.
the sound academy holds about 3000 people, it's a stand up venue and it just plain sucks.

Jonsi is a chelsea boy!
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 11:57 AM
Sweet...should be able to score a ticket on craigs list or ebay for $5 as there is no way this will sell out!
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 12:04 PM
i'm with the "play Town Hall" crowd. (is it a crowd yet?)

Terminal 5? Who does this guy think he is? Elton John? Freddy Mercury? Michael Stipe? Simon Fuller?
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 1:34 PM
>>How many copies did Julian Casablancas solo album sell? He did 2 at T5...
>>
a) they both didn't sell out
b) he's the lead singer of one of the biggest bands to come out of NYC in the last 10 years... (with a lot of bridge and tunnel appeal)
Sigur Ros have their peeps for sure but this tour seems very overbooked...

love the album but I'll skip the show--not at T5, thanks.
Sigur Ros always sell out venues that have SEATS--T5 is a "stand there and watch" venue, so not adequate for Jonsi and a string section.
It's sad, he deserves better.

Chelsea boy!
Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2010 3:46 PM
MPLS gets two shows because the last time Sigur Ros was in town they sold out a bigger theater and resulted in tickets being sold WELL over their face value.
That and were bad ass.

I have not heard his Jonsi's solo album but if it's anything like the Jonsi and Alex album I can not imagine it working at Terminal 5 - especially if the venue is not filled. Is he expected to play Sigur Ros songs on this tour?
I'm with the people voting for it to be moved Town Hall or Beacon or BAM or some other seated venue where I can dreamily doze off in my seat...

uh, have any of you heard any of the already released songs off of "go?" nothing like sigur ros music. upbeat and completely different. and i think you'll all be surprised at the crowd this tour attracts, at least in new york. terminal 5 isn't my favorite venue, but his playing there probably has a lot to do with all the crazy stuff he has in store for these live shows. you have to admit, terminal 5's a good place to put on a spectacular, over the top show. it's gonna be beautiful.

Its going to be amazing.

Biggest waste of money I ever spent on a show. Walked out after 2 songs. Terminal 5 is a shit hole. I am 6'1 and still couldnt see shit. Never going again
Posted by Brian | May 9, 2010 11:45 AM
If you couldnt see anything in a standing only venue, you probably shoudve arrived earlier. I witnessed each outstanding moment from mezzanine. Couldnt have been better.

Oh, and what about those question marks on Sunday's text in the concert poster below? No, that isn't saving a spot for a Smiths reunion or U2 debut on the Coachella stage, it's the way that Yorke presents himself as a solo star, the marquee at his Orpheum concert had the same punctuational flourish.
