seriously disappointing and anticlimactic gimmick. perhaps they have something up their sleeve... otherwise coachella beat them in the music department. bonnaroo will probably still have the more relaxed atmosphere with the latenight offerings though.

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 10:32 PM

both this and coachella suck

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 10:35 PM

^--- someones jealous they dont have a ticket to indio

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 10:37 PM

Gwar is a cool surprise, and Stevie Wonder is nice, but Coachella stomps this into the ground otherwise.

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 10:40 PM

weak sauce ... ATP announcements just around the corner will kill this.

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 10:41 PM

Lollapalooza will blow this trash away.

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 10:46 PM

Ha Ha followed by Lol

Posted by camp7NdN | February 9, 2010 10:47 PM

lcd oundsystem would be cool. otherwise this lineup is so 2k6. if I'm gonna drive 20 hours to see bands and take drugs this year I'd rather do it with todd p and bands I actually care about, not this mainstream dehydration marathon

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 10:50 PM

Odd

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 10:57 PM

'Roo > Coach

you guys seriously don't wanna see dave, stevie, tenacious d, jigga, weezer, phoenix, the lips, dead weather, lcd, john fogerty, regina, jeff beck, she & him, black keys, dropkick, against me, and disco biscuits?

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 11:06 PM

Not a particularly indie-heavy lineup, which explains the mehs here. It will be a fantastic festival for people who don't restrict themselves to a few genres. I wish I could go. You would have to spend a fortune to see all these people here in NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 11:09 PM

^^ NO
not going

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 11:10 PM

JEFF The Brotherhood should be on this. They are the best band in Tennessee

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 11:13 PM

10:41 I'm still waiting for ATP to announce more than 4 bands :(

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 11:16 PM

Didn't gwar drown in their own fake blood? Wonder what Stevie thinks beaviswar?

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 11:52 PM

this is a really weird/weak lineup. almost like clear channel chose it. no cohesion or focus. last year on saturday alone at bonnaroo i saw (in this order): elvis perkins, bon iver, of montreal, the mars volta, bruce springsteen, yeasayer, NIN, mgmt.

that alone blows this year's lineup out of the water. last year was amazing because it was pretty much all indie bands and jam bands. both contingents were satisfied and they threw in a metal tent one day and some other stuff. this year is just a bunch of middle of the road radio bands.

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2010 11:57 PM

i cannot wait for the Melvins/Stevie Wonder collaboration.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 12:10 AM

i vomited when i saw DMB listed

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 12:11 AM

I just hate everthing and anyone that goes to it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 12:29 AM

alls this needs is wavves

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 12:33 AM

Posted by Birdo | February 10, 2010 1:23 AM

"Needs MMJ and Neil Young"

yea im surprised theyre not on here, especially mmj

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 1:24 AM

no pavement.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 1:36 AM

What is interesting to me is that these bands all played ACL last year:

Dave Matthews Band
Kings of Leon
The Dead Weather
The Avett Brothers
Bassnectar
Medeski Martin & Wood
Dr. Dog
Blitzen Trapper
The Dodos

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 2:19 AM

lineup sucks

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 2:37 AM

ah the Mehlvins....

Posted by iqiiq | February 10, 2010 2:54 AM

No Jack Johnson no care.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 3:18 AM

You are too good for these festivals people. Just give up listening to music.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 3:47 AM

Wow...Coachella really does kick the Roo's ass this year.

Stevie Wonder? Fine but not with 80k people in a field.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 5:04 AM

lame. festivAUls are getting to be THE bullshit. no ladyboys? zac brown and the kings of peon will be circle jerking with that toad dave mathews.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 6:20 AM

This is the best lineup ever!

Posted by Contrarian Dave | February 10, 2010 7:16 AM

beyond weak, tough to beat the year radiohead headlined but i wonder how All Points West will turn out. Hoping for a Pavement & LCD Soundsystem apperance.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 7:29 AM

I saw Stevie Wonder last summer and it was a terrible, half-assed performance. Enjoy.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 7:38 AM

what? no tuneyards????

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 8:31 AM

"You are too good for these festivals people. Just give up listening to music."

not true. last year's bonnaroo lineup was amazing. this year's.. not so much.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 8:48 AM

as much as i dislike this lineup, there will be a lot of really cool seat-ins

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 8:58 AM

Needs more Ween.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 9:48 AM

wondering when the next announcement(s) will be, they have a lot left to announce

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 10:01 AM

i heard Alan Parsons Project, Seals & Croft, and Loggins & Messina. Sweet!

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 10:19 AM

yawn

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 10:24 AM

Dan Deacon Ensemble is where it is fucking at.

Posted by Pat | February 10, 2010 10:57 AM

is this still a 4 day festival?

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 11:12 AM

APW. August 27 2010.
DAFT PUNK + LCD + MINOR THREAT
confirmed.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 11:30 AM

^ stop playing

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 12:36 PM

APW is a no go this year. cancelled. Are the rumors true about that festival Upstate NY? (I think Live Nation bought a farm. Live Nation means it will suck.) What about the planned Bowery Presents festival? Where is that supposed to take place.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 12:40 PM

bonnaroo needs ween, pavement, daft punk, superchunk, furthur, prince and paul mccartney to make this worthwhile....

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 12:46 PM

how about a Further/Beachwood Sparks/The Tyde lineup.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 1:29 PM

LOLLAPALOOZA FTW!

Poo-chella
Boner-roo

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 2:12 PM

The is NO truth to there being no APW this year.

As it stands now, it is still a go.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 2:13 PM

back to the roo line-up...

you think by trimming back most of those sucky jam bands the festival would get better. Somehow they made it worse.

And Stevie Wonder circa 2010 is lackluster - at best.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 2:15 PM

check out primavera sound's 2010 lineup, it will blow your mind ...

Posted by eli | February 10, 2010 2:34 PM

JEFF The Brotherhood HAS to be on this line-up. They're from TN, for one thing, and they ROCK, for another.

Posted by sara k. | February 10, 2010 2:35 PM

I hate music so much!

Posted by brooklyn hipster | February 10, 2010 2:56 PM

Music festivals of any kind = no thanks.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 4:26 PM

"I hate music so much!"

that's totally not the sentiment of what people are saying. pretty much people are saying:

a) coachella's lineup is better
b) this lineup is significantly worse than last year's bonnaroo

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 4:42 PM

^
in short: blah blah blah I hate music so fucking much blah blah blah.

Posted by whiney hipster | February 10, 2010 4:47 PM

People on here would complain about their own festivals that they themselves curated.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 4:49 PM

"Music festivals of any kind = no thanks"

thats a shame

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 5:10 PM

daryl hall and chhromeo???? that is fucking awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2010 8:50 PM

Primavera Sound is insane

Posted by Zatzbatz | February 11, 2010 3:53 AM

Glad to hear that APW is still a go. Now let's hope they get their sh!t together. I went the past two years. The music was fine... the organization is horrible. I've been to many a bonnaroo. Sadly this looks like the worst lineup yet. They generally run the best festival. Not sure how they can make it better though.... I think everyone was expecting something big like Zeppelin, The Stones, The Who, U2, Prince or McCartney. Hell, even Ringo would be cool. Coachella is the better lineup this year so far...This lineup is not influencing me to pay up yet... I will wait and see how the rest of the summer festival season pans out... bonnaroo will have trouble topping last year. Phish/Bruce/B-boys etc....

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2010 9:12 AM

Aren't there like 30 more bands to come??

.....And I you will know us by the trail of the dead

and

(not that i care) 311

Confirmed but aren't listed, does anyone remember if any good bands or indie smaller bands are added to Roo in the second wave of confirmations?

Also, are there late night shows at Coachella?

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2010 2:08 PM

this looks awesome though:
http://www.nojazzfest.com/

Posted by pm | February 11, 2010 2:45 PM

@2:08

Nope, no late shows at Coachella, it ends each day before midnight, they get fined heavily if any act goes over. Coachella is weaker than normal this year as well, not as bad as Roo though. Fucking pathetic line up.

Roo adds bands, but the biggest late add in years past has been a act like Govt Mule, so not a big deal really. I doubt a huge artist will get added. Roo's line up sucks major donkey balls.

Lolla and Pitchfork for the win it seems. (Jesus PF already sold out their passes in 5 days) Solid line-ups and a good festival value.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2010 1:44 PM

^
You are absolutely wrong. I have been to Coachella the last three years and I have seen artists go to 1:30. There also is a late night EDM dome that goes well into the morning hours for campers. There has not been one day in the last three years that has not gone beyond midnight.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2010 3:45 PM

Can't afford to go to Roo just for the melvins... but I'd be there in a second if Pavement hops on tour.

Posted by Ramey | February 13, 2010 3:38 PM

No Bonnaroo for me! Here i go Coachella!!!

Posted by Bebel | March 6, 2010 11:35 AM

cmon pretty lights.....PREEETTTYYY LIGHTTSSS

Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2010 10:10 PM

Unless you plan on doing a shit load of drugs like some hippie, why do people continue to go to these things? I'd rather see Chromeo with Daryl Hall at Bowery Ballroom for the same price then go to this piece of shit, "festival."

Posted by nick | March 26, 2010 4:42 PM

Oh, and what about those question marks on Sunday's text in the concert poster below? No, that isn't saving a spot for a Smiths reunion or U2 debut on the Coachella stage, it's the way that Yorke presents himself as a solo star, the marquee at his Orpheum concert had the same punctuational flourish.
