My Morning Jacket...
My Morning Jacket

My Morning Jacket will be opening for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Izod Center on Tuesday, August 24th. Fanclub presale starts March 8th at 10am. Tickets through LiveNation go through a ton of presales, which start March 10th at 10am, before general sale, which starts March 15th at 10am.

It's just one stop in Tom Petty's full summer of shows with acts that include Joe Cocker, Drive-By Truckers, and Crosby, Stills and Nash. He'll also play Madison Square Garden on July 28th (opener TBA). Those go on Fanclub presale Monday, March 8th at 10am.

Tom Petty's new album, Mojo, comes out this spring; a track from it is streaming on his site.

MMJ's other shows include New Orleans Jazz Fest at the end of April and, like Massive Attack, Sasquatch Fest at the end of May.

your going to have to hit up Maryland like I am to see MMJ anytime soon

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 3:16 PM

MMJ MPP tix go on sale tomorrow at 10am. It's really only a 3 hours drive from NYC and it's a great venue to see them.

but tom petty sucks. what do we do about that?

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 3:48 PM

>> I don't know.. if you ask me I think I like more songs by Tom Petty than My Morning Jacket...

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 4:24 PM

Tom Petty has been rocking since 76...get a clue!

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 4:25 PM

I think MMJ will be playing the Garden sooner than NYE.

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 4:43 PM

@ 4:25
There are many bands that have "been rocking" since '76 and before that that i'd rather go see. TP is glorified trailer trash music with average at best songwriting skills, ie some of his "greatest hits" are the best songs he has and the rest of his albums are all filler, definitely no killer. Kinda like when they show you the best parts of a movie in the preview for it. Smoke yourself a clue!

Why won't MMJ play NY by themselves?

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 6:11 PM

They did - what rock have you been hiding under? Don't waste yr time - you missed out on seeing them during the glory days. Seeing MMJ at the Bowery was incredible

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 7:18 PM

That was seven years ago. They are a lot better now.

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 8:10 PM

5:28, how's the idiocy working out for you?

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 8:48 PM

7:18 i was referring to the previous posters who made it seem like MMJ would not be playing in NYC this tour. I've seen them 7 times already- all in NYC- so I know they play here. Thanks for your help though.

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2010 11:19 PM

10:19 How about you expand your horizons and challenge yourself by learning the proper usage of "your" and "you're," you fucking putz.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2010 12:00 AM

Tom Petty has some good songs but the Jayhawks really influenced one of his better songs years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2010 2:03 AM

My Morning Jacket is a good add to the Petty tour. I got my tickets today now the waiting is the hardest part.

Posted by tom petty tickets | March 8, 2010 8:20 PM

Tom Petty is one of the strongest American songwriters, period. If you can't understand this, just look at the fact that he was asked to join George Harrison, Roy Orbison, and Bob Dylan in the Traveling Wilburys, and then listen to them and realize how strong an influence he has on their sound. Furthermore, Mike Campbell is one of the most underrated guitarists around. See them live before you pass judgment.

Oh, and what about those question marks on Sunday's text in the concert poster below? No, that isn't saving a spot for a Smiths reunion or U2 debut on the Coachella stage, it's the way that Yorke presents himself as a solo star, the marquee at his Orpheum concert had the same punctuational flourish.
