Dolby is bringing the heavy artillery for the event, providing a 22' screen that will fill Brooklyn Bowl's stage, along with a Christie CP2000xb cinema projector, the same kind you would find at AMC or Lowes. This is the first time Dolby has ever brought this type of equipment into a music club instead of a traditional theater. Additionally, the film's original sound engineer, Carl Glanville, will be on hand to ensure that Brooklyn Bowl's acclaimed sound system is tweaked just right.U2 3D was shot in Buenos Aires, Argentina at River Plate Stadium during their 2006 Vertigo tour. The 14-song film kicks off with the title track "Vertigo", followed by classics such as "Beautiful Day", "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "With or Without You", "Pride (In The Name of Love)", and "Where the Streets Have No Name." U2 3D was widely acclaimed around its release and currently has a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
"I've looked forward to the opportunity to present this film in this room, "said U2 3D producer/ Brooklyn Bowl owner Peter Shapiro. "We're not quite sure how this will play out but there's a real chance that this will be something like fans have never seen."
"It's very cool that we're able to show this movie that represents the National Geographic mission of inspiring people to care about the planet at this amazing venue," said President of National Geographic Entertainment - the film's distributor - David Beal. "Seeing U2 3D at Brooklyn Bowl allows everyone the opportunity to experience U2 in a manner that will truly blur the line between concert and concert film." [Brooklyn Bowl]

This movie was great, but I did see it on an IMAX screen, so I don't know how cool BBowl setup will be (sounds cool)...

Say what you want about U2, but name another band who have been together and putting out music for as long as they have, all the while constantly reinventing their sound to stay fresh? Personally, I don't care for them, never been to see them live, but they have my respect for that reason alone. They sure beat bands like the Rolling Stones or Aerosmith, who have been continually putting out the same exact album for the past two-plus decades.

Come on Vegan this is hardly "twisting concert conventions". One of the owners of Brooklyn Bowl was one of the producers of the U23D film so this is hardly a stretch nor is it a creative use of the space. We all know Bowery Presents pays you big $$$ monthly but you should try to keep it a little less obvious!

10:43, staying fresh to whom? Do you consider Pop to be a brilliant reinvention of the U2 formula? The band hasn't done anything worthwhile since the early 90's. Their continuing success is a testament to the embarrassingly low standards of modern music consumers, or the gullibility of Rolling Stone readers. Survival is not a virtue.

So they should be more "cutting edge", like, say, the Crystal Stilts or Vivian Girls? Ninja, pu-leez!

Pop was and still is one of the best U2 albums of the last 20 years!

Despite being a jaded U2 fan, I really enjoyed in this film. It's worth checking out...And it's in 3-D so pack yr bowl tight and enjoy the ride.

Just what I need Bono's obnoxiousness in 3D.
If you need me I'll be in the back jamming needles into my eyes.

be cool if they'd release some live shows from '80, '81 & '82, audio or video. "Under.." just isn't enough.

Guggenheim billed it as a performance piece and it was just an installation. Resultingly, the crowd simply waited for the "show" to start, limiting anyone's ability to freely explore the space (the ground floor was packed with indian-style seaters, and the balconies were lined with people holding onto their spots like grim death.

it makes no sense for them to deconstruct the entire TD North venue to play a show the next night ~50 miles south at an amphitheater (which probably would require a different stage setup anyway). They'd play Providence or Mohegan Sun before that (and I think those are both highly unlikely).
