Animal Collective & Danny Perez

Transverse Temporal Gyrus, the video/music installation/performance by Animal Collective & Danny Perez happening at the Guggenheim, has sold out its 9pm showing on Thursday, March 4th. Good thing they've added an early show for the same day, to happen from 4:30-7:30pm. Tickets are on sale (thanks Christopher & CJ).
The trailer for their previous film with Danny Perez, Oddsac, which coms to NYC this week, is reposted below...

As @Guggenheim stated... exhibit runs from 4:30PM - 7:30PM but you can arrive anytime you like, there is no beginning/ending.
So for everyone working, just come after work for an hour. I doubt anyone will be there for 3 hours watching the same exhibit unless they're shmoozing or on psychedelics.

I bought an extra ticket to the not-sold-out 4:30 exhibit. Anyone want to meet me there and buy it off me? Even though you could easily just buy it off the interent?
Cool!

Asshole Collective
way to have a "performance" which was nothing more than an installation. learn some art history and the fucking difference. also - way to shoot two projectors on the walls and one on the ground. A+. most bullshit piece of "art" i've seen in a long time. unless "having people wait three hours in anticipation" is part of the artwork - it was complete shit.

crap man. it was cool for like 20 minutes until you realized... "that's it?" what have they been smoking man...

i expected something more... immersive. it got old after 30 minutes. it's sad when the most interesting thing is staring intently to see if a man in a costume will move his head two inches. and then to top it off, actually clapping when he eventually does.

Total waste of time, money, space, energy. Paid $60 to watch a shitty screensaver. OVERRATED.

Given that the vast majority of the audience, just stayed at the ground level, I would say that the most people probably missed the point of the piece. The ticket clearly said the best way to expirence this was to start at the top and work yourself down, and if you did that, you probably would of gotten more out of this. it was a kinda cool, dizzying, and immersive expirence.

It was beyond stupid. I walked in and had a conversation with someone about how we were looking forward to when they came on (only to find out they were actually on in front of us).
It could've been mannquins over there for all you knew except for they took their hat things off at the end.
I laughed at the people who applauded. There was absolutely nothing interesting about the experience. At least they had booze.

nobody liked it? ha ha! at least you didn't bother the person(s) who did!

I love it. Here are the reasons:
- I had no idea what to expect
- It was out of this world experience
- They were obviously pushing the limits of music without melodies and working purely with abstract sounds. Perfect for the location.
- The acoustics were amazing
- The fact that they were jus standing there was amazing as if their brains were transmitting the music. Loved it.
- The costumes were great. Not so impressed with the visuals (they could have done more with the projections)
- It was very organic
- They sold Absinth
This was not an emotional experience but rather a mental one. Perhaps the negative reviewers should open their minds to what is different and new because that is what this was.
