I can't wait to hear all the complaints about the lineup.

Sunn + Boris doing Altar = YES
Beak>'s first US show, no?

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 6:44 PM

i wonder if hope sandoval will have a meltdown there too.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 7:15 PM

Still not worth it

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 7:27 PM

total snooze-fest

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 7:34 PM

whoever thinks this lineup sucks is seriously a fucking moron. this is insane so far.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 7:40 PM

not worth it?
thinking about buying a plane ticket now
LINEUP is awesome. IGGY alone is worth it

Plus, I would think this is way better than the typical fest these days, no?

I am so tired of open fields, I like what Scion Rock Fest, NX35, etc etc do (not sure who started these) but putting it into a venue or multiple venues.

I know when ACL is here in Austin, I usually only go to the aftershows, cause they are so much easier.

Posted by TXn | March 25, 2010 7:44 PM

Best festival period in my book, more than solid line up. Go watch Green Day at Lolla dorks...

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 8:10 PM

I am still quite confident Pavement will be playing this.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 8:53 PM

decent lineup for a change.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 9:21 PM

post rock snoozefest

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 10:11 PM

honestly, it seems the same bands play this all the time, with the exception of a reunion band getting together to perform an album.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 10:32 PM

it is weird that they're starting to repeat on the 3rd year already

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 10:42 PM

Hope Sandoval on the bill means I'm officially going

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 10:43 PM

Keep in mind day 2 is curated by ATP and supposed to be celebrating their 10 year anniversary, so repeats aren't exactly unreasonable

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 11:02 PM

better have pavement. this is a festival without a headliner, and with way more filler garbage than we expect from atp thus far. not a lot of open slots left to make this worth $500 apiece.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 11:09 PM

lol @ sunno)))))). more like (*)!!!

have fun, bitches.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 11:24 PM

fucked up are playing? no kidding...

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2010 11:56 PM

Girls are playing? Forget it, I'm not going.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 12:11 AM

Hope Sandoval on the bill means I'm officially not going. I was on the fence otherwise. Good lineup, inconvenient location. The attitude of that bitch is enough to suck the energy out of the whole festival.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 12:52 AM

if you complain about this lineup you are a grade a dipshit

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 1:09 AM

where are you getting your figures? it's $250 for the weekend.

*if you read the article you would see that it is ATP's 10 year anniversary and the theme for Saturday is past curators and participants. thus explaining the repeat guests.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 2:05 AM

Im fucking thrilled

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 7:04 AM

SONIC YOUTH
EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY
THE BREEDERS
TORTOISE
FUCK BUTTONS

any one of these bands could sell out a night in new york on their own, any venue, any night of the week.

y'all should be suckin ATP's dick for a great chance to see em in one night in a comfortable, intimate setting, u buncha fucken ingrates

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 7:51 AM

SUNN O))) and BORIS present ALTAR

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 8:00 AM

>any one of these bands could sell out a night in new york on their own, any venue, any night of the week.

thats highly debatable....

that being said ATP always pulls it out in the end and it weeds out the trendy scenesters and concentrates on a core group of real music fans who get it... it cant really be compared to other corporate outdoor fests.. it is what it is & their history and commitment speaks for itself.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 9:48 AM

SONIC YOUTH
EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY
THE BREEDERS
TORTOISE
FUCK BUTTONS

maybe they could sell out a venue in new york. that doesn't mean they're any good. fuck buttons outright suck. sonic youth should retire. explosions in the sky have been boring since about 2003. the breeders have put out surprisingly good albums since they got back together, but a free show at the pool was enough for me. this does not make an acceptable atp lineup by any stretch.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 9:52 AM

it does come out to around $500 if you buy a ticket and split a 3-berth room two ways. a little more, actually.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 9:57 AM

get a third person in your room. or book a 2 person room at a nearby hotel. there are plenty of other options outside of staying at kutschers that are much cheaper.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 10:05 AM

what hotels are nearby anyone know? walking distance, like no more than 1 mile walk?

I agree with the person who said that Iggy/Stooges alone makes it worth it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 10:21 AM

@10:32..."honestly, it seems the same bands play this all the time"

Unless you are including the UK-based ATP's, I think you exaggerating quite a bit. This will be the 3rd ATP held at Kutsher's, and the bands who have played twice (none have played three times) are:

Bardo Pond
Apse
Brian Jonestown
Boris (if you count them playing with Sunn O))) as the same thing, which it's obviously not)
Sleepy Sun
Drones
Shellac
Tortoise
Fuck Buttons

Nine bands out of a total of probably 80, and three of those bands also did Don't Look Back sets (BP, Tortoise, Drones); a few are also on ATP's roster (BP, Drones, Apse, Fuck Buttons, Sleepy Sun) so that's not really a surprise there.

That leaves BJM and Shellac, and Shellac really doesn't do perform much at all, so I can't imagine anyone actively complaining about having to see Shellac again.

But hey, if you want to form baseless complaints, go for it. I'm looking forward to going once again.

Posted by tim | March 26, 2010 12:36 PM

@11:09 - yep, no real headliners announced yet. I can go see Iggy & Williamson run through Raw Power in its entirety at Cakeshop any day of the week.

Posted by 11:09 is a fool | March 26, 2010 1:24 PM

I will admit this lineup doesnt have me as excited as the previous years (also considering it is incomplete)

But if you've ever been to an ATP, you would realize its well worth $500 bucks regardless of the lineup. So long as theres 2-3 bands you reaallly want to see, its worth it

Posted by BigDuneCoon | March 26, 2010 1:50 PM

...am really hoping that the reunited Swans will play atp ny....

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2010 4:19 PM

Primal Scream playing Screamadelica would be sweet

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2010 1:49 AM

Oh no, there's one act on a big multi-stage festival bill I don't like. Better not go. Oh wait, or maybe I could just eat or sleep or sit by the lake for that hour. jesus

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2010 10:59 AM

Bands who have been in recent Jarmusch movies who ARE playing ATP:

Boris
SunnO)))
Black Angels
Brian Jonestown Massacre
Sleep
The Stooges
Wu-Tang and affliated

Bands who have been in recent Jarmusch movies that haven't been announced (yet?):

Bad Rabbit
Holly Golightly
Mulatu Astatke
Dengue Fever
Earth
LCD Soundsystem
Tom Waits???

Posted by Anonymous | March 29, 2010 1:51 PM

I've already Booked a sweet lake-house nearby and got my tickets. Can't wait. :)

Posted by googly face | March 29, 2010 3:11 PM

If you look at this current lineup and say there is no headliners then you either (a)can't read or (b)are completely clueless to music. Most of the bands already announced can sell-out a large NYC venue ALONE. Stop being such whiny hipster idiots. Oh and I really hope that Pavement doesn't play.

Posted by googly face | March 29, 2010 3:18 PM

"I really hope that Pavement doesn't play."

motherfucking cosign
