DOWNLOAD: Holy Hail - Keymaker's Summer (MP3)
Florence & the Machine @ Bowery Ballroom in October (more by Paul Birman)

Florence and the Machine have admitted taking a section of single 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)' from another band, and agreed to pay royalties. US group Gang Gang Dance claimed Florence's 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)' is partially built on a sample of their single 'House Jam', and pursued them for royalties. The UK's Florence and the Machine April tour has gotten bigger. Tickets are already sold out for their Friday, April 9th NYC show at Terminal 5, so they added a show the night before (4/8) at the much smaller (Le) Poisson Rouge. Tickets are on sale to LPR members now; general sale starts Wednesday, March 3rd at 9am. Both shows are with opener Holy Hail who is also playing their own show March 7th at the Armory.Singer Florence Welch has since admitted it was mistake that the group were given no credit for her track in the first place and said she was happy to split the royalties.
She said: "Yeah that's true, it's no secret. I've spoken about it in interviews before. I'm a massive fan of Gang Gang Dance and it was in homage to them."
With Florence and the Machine's profile rising daily - with their debut album 'Lungs' recently seeing a sales jump of 1,550% after winning a BRIT award for Best British Album last week - the payoff could be lucrative for the small electronic band - however, although the infringement has been acknowledged, there has been no legal confirmation as to whether royalties will be paid to Gang Gang Dance or not. because I don't like this horrendously awful & phony band ?

Hmm... If it was just the vocal part ("how quickly the glamor") she redoes - seems to me like it was an homage. I'm in love with Gang Gang, but I don't know if this is the route they should be taking on this one. Maybe they're entitled to royalties, but it would probably make more sense for them to try to grab some publicity (Florence remix?) rather than get some points which may prove negligible. I guess it would depend on the numbers... I disagree that homage is "sneaky." Using a distinguishable line on virtually the same demographic to me sounds more like tribute than plagiarism.

I think people are missing the big picture here. How the fuck did Holy Hail get these gigs?!?

Because you don't know shit about music, you have no talent, yet you feel the need to voice your opinion. If you like any bands, praise them. If you make music, play it. Otherwise go the fuck away. Nobody's forcing you to listen to anything.

^^^Uhm...I take it you're in Holy Hail.

That was in reply to 4:44, not the Holy Hail question.

I enjoy Gang Gang Dance, but House Jam is not their best. I wish everyone could take elements of a mediocre track and create a much better one.

Like it matters because Gang Gang dance rips off every "experimental" band they discovered from Wire Magazine and elsewhere. Its really obvious they are a kitchen sink soup of all their influences.

LPR show on sale

funny cause the old bass player of holy hail is marrying the guitar player of gang gang dance. WEIRD!

Wonderful post and the location is beautiful and elegant in design and information and everything>>> to Favorites
bonnaroo would never do something like put arcade fire up against soundgarden. or strokes vs gaga. thats why these festivals with curfews are not worth going to. you have to miss tons of bands you'd want to see.

Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
