Gang Gang Dance @ MHOW in January (more by Benjamin Lozovsky)

Gang Gang Dance, who signed to 4AD earlier this year, are expected to release the follow-up to 2008's Saint Dymphna later this year. Their new label will be including them on a limited 12-inch Record Store Day EP, titled Fragments From Work In Progress, which'll also feature contributions from four other 4AD artists who will be previewing "rough drafts and material" from their upcoming LPs. That comes out April 17th, Record Store Day. Its full tracklist (and participating artists - Tune-Yards, Ariel Pink, more) are below.
Gang Gang Dance (who were recently ripped off & then compensated by Florence and the Machine) are set to open up for Hot Chip at Terminal 5 on April 23rd. That show and Hot Chip's show a night earlier at the venue are sold out.
Hot Chip also just announced a SummerStage show for the August, and Gang Gang have announced a new NYC show of their own as well, to happen April 22nd at Music Hall of Williamsburg (the same venue they headlined in January). Tickets to come soon.

Why people are into this band is beyond me.
Has no one noticed how sloppy and poorly put together this faux-hippy-crystal-loving-bullshit is?
I mean, it sounds like Yeasayer all gangbanging a young Madonna - and I mean that in the worst way possible.

Wahhh! Quit crying you fucking baby. If you don't like them, don't listen to them.

Yes exactly my thoughts after seeing them after all the talk. Its just a sloppy mix of all the "experimental" bands they discovered in the last five years. Real sloppy knob twiddling and guitar meandering.
I'll take Matmos, Can, and maybe some newer psych any day, but not this bad combination of it regurgitated up.

18th Dye was worth seeing and they should have played last, not gang gang dancer's in the dark.

literally fuck everyone who's ever commented on BV because they're complete negative trash with shit opinions including me. I'm already dead and the holocaust literally never happened.

Gang Gang Dance is amazing. Good thing not everyone loves them, hopefully they'll keep playing small venues like MHOW. Their January show was incredible.

Look in the back of Wire magazine and see all the bands that gang gang dance likes and its basically a vomit soup of th ones they like pushed out like a Pollack painting.
Its sad to see people fawn over them when they cop from others who played from twenty years before in "underground" groups and were obscure.
But now if you live in NYC and were connected to the other incestuous nonsense and clubs you could make a living off what you repeat\steal and not just influenced by like GG Dance does so blatantly if you listen various older psych bands.

If someone doesn't like a band and provides some reasons, that's cool with me. I really don't want to read a bunch of cheerleading comments.

I'd be interested in which bands you think GGD rip off, they're a band so obviously influenced by this decades music (modern dancehall, house and grime specifically) that your criticism seems totally wrongheaded. Worth noting that pretty much all of GGD have been making music for at least 15 years now too.

I think Gang Gang Dance are a great band, and for some really weird reason they remind me of Gong, but more upbeat.
