Courtney Love

There have been a few "big" SXSW-related announcements over the past few weeks. Stone Temple Pilots will be there. Big Star will too. Broken Bells are making a high profile appearance at the NPR show at Stubb's on March 17th (the show Spoon headlines). And... "Hole" is headlining the invite-only SPIN day party at Stubb's on Friday, March 19th. Crazy Courtney Love (who is on the cover of the new SPIN) has an all new band and a new album entitled Nobody's Daughter (out April 27th). If she actually shows up to Austin, as anyone that was at All Points West in 2009 can attest, I'm sure this year's SXSW will be full of Courtney sightings all week long.

It was previously reported that because of founding Hole member Eric Erlandson's legal rights to the band name, the new album would have to be released as a Courtney Love record. That seems to have been resolved. It was also originally/occasionally reported/misreported that bassist Melissa Auf der Maur would be part of the reunion, though that doesn't seem to be the case either. Instead, the lineup for Hole will include "23-year-old British guitarist Micko Larkin (formerly of London indie rockers Larrikin Love), bassist Shawn Dailey (of Rock Kills Kid), and drummer Stuart Fisher. (Jack Irons, formerly of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam, played drums on the album.)"

"Skinny Little Bitch," a track from the new Hole album, is available on the record's site today (3/4) only.

After SXSW, Hole has shows scheduled in L.A., NYC and the UK in April and May. The band plays Terminal 5 on Tuesday, April 27nd. Tickets are on sale Friday, March 12th at noon.

Many people wouldn't want to see "Hole" in the "Hole" known as T5.

I remember seeing them in 1999.....

Is this the original line-up?

P.S. How is Courtney's voice sounding these days....

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 10:30 AM

Just her..she is the only one left!

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 10:33 AM

"Is this the original line-up?"

Courtney, is that you?

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 10:38 AM

Just like Billy Corgan is the Smashing Pumpkins. It'd be funny if James Iha had the rights to the band name....

Is anyone really willing to pay more than $5 to see this overrated band, that doesnt ever write there own music?

Guarantee the concert will be canceled before we get to April 27

Hole lotta of meh

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 10:44 AM

Hate to break it to you 10:39, but this will definitely sell out. Probably pretty quickly.

People are stupid. If you need further evidence, see that Owl City already has 2 sold out shows at T5 a few days before the "Hole" gig.

saw the old band twice... they really rocked... they ripped it at roseland... and courtney gave the stage hands hell at lollapalooza on randall's island, sonic youth headlined, it was a scorcher of a summer day and they wouldn't hose the crowd down and she held up her set until they did... they were a tight, hurricane of noise and eric erlandson is/was a great guitar player...

Posted by moldymind | March 4, 2010 11:07 AM

"Hole" in quotes, indeed.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 11:56 AM

@10:38 Billy Corgan actually wrote a good chunk of this album.....

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 11:59 AM

courtney love = justine frischmann

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 12:09 PM

Courtney Love = gonorrhea fountain

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 12:45 PM

like the pumpkins, this isn't hole by any stretch of the imagination. it may be more apt to call it "billy corgan," but it definitely ain't hole.

Posted by yo | March 4, 2010 1:19 PM

Great, T5 again. I can keep my money.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 1:21 PM

fck courtney love...that bitch killed kurt.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 1:22 PM

hey moldy mind-

your mind has indeed rotted and turned to mold...hole was a sloppy, wandering train wreck at roseland. what kind of drugs are you on? Courtney was rambling endlessly between songs and the band flubbed through numerous crappy cover tunes only occassionally nailing versions of songs from Live Through This. It was mediocre at best.

Is that crown she's wearing in the pic made of feces? If not, it should be. Her (w)hole shtick is a tired, boring and poorly played out RnR cliche. This is one rare case were I'd side with the idiotic MEH people and if I was Kurt I woulda killed myself too...

12:45 wins!

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 1:39 PM

Another band from the past that is cashing in cause the economy ruined there cocaine/herion funding. Ala PiL, Pixies, Specials, Smashing Pumpkins, and countless other "Alt 90/Grunge" bands.

Frank Black atleast admit it was all about the money for the Pixies.

Courtney should just do us all a favor and take a hot dose.

the drugs were good and it was a good show... sorry you had a lousy time...

yeah, yeah, courtney killed kurt and yoko broke up the beatles...

maybe you should be a meh person, it would be more interesting...

Posted by moldymind | March 4, 2010 2:21 PM

I was just figuring out my SXSW... now I can make this note...

Fri March 19- day: steer clear of Stubb's

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 2:41 PM

hey moldymind...

ur an idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 3:16 PM

Melissa Auf der Maur is playing at SXSW too, somebody wanna sponsor a catfight?

this is the same woman who sold Kurt's story to Hollywood so they could make a movie...just what he wouldve wanted!

I guess we shouldnt be suprised after she sold the diaries too.

What's clear in all of this she's only in it for the money and has no soul or heart

the only good music she put out was a few 7 inches and the record on Caroline

I'm the one who responded about the roseland show. I didn't say I had a lousy time, I said Courtney/Hole were sloppy. I heartily enjoyed my drugs and had a good laugh at her expense without bringing shame upon myself or mold to my brain.

Don't drag Yoko Ono into this. She has more class in her pinky finger than Courtney has ever had or will ever know. I love Yoko. Like the fellow poster at 3:16 eloqunetly said- u r an idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 4:35 PM

Please don't talk to me about Courtney "putting out" with her "7 inches". Gross.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 6:05 PM

Didn't Courtney od? She's got more lives than 15 cats.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2010 9:37 PM

i would go see them but since they are playing T5 i am not.

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2010 10:22 AM

maybe you should go see rush...

Posted by moldymind | March 5, 2010 3:16 PM

do you think hole will play old songs? or just stuff from the new album??

Posted by b | March 9, 2010 10:27 PM

they've been playing old stuff on the dates they've done so far

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2010 2:54 PM

Oh, and what about those question marks on Sunday's text in the concert poster below? No, that isn't saving a spot for a Smiths reunion or U2 debut on the Coachella stage, it's the way that Yorke presents himself as a solo star, the marquee at his Orpheum concert had the same punctuational flourish.
