Omar Rodriguez

"El Grupo Nuevo De Omar Rodriguez Lopez (for the spanish-challenged, that's The New Group of ORL) is the melding of Omar Rodriguez Lopez (The Mars Volta, At the Drive-In), Zach Hill (Hella), Jonathan Hischke (ex-Hella), Juan Alderete de la Peña (The Mars Volta), and "features the vocals of guest frontman Cedric Bixler Zavala (The Mars Volta, At the Drive-In) on eight of the album's eleven tracks". OK, can it get any more spazzy? Sounds pretty wild, and judging by the tracks in the below video, it just may be." [BBG]
Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group (which apparently is NOT what is described above) plays Highline Ballroom in NYC on May 2nd (but supposedly still with Zach Hill - possibly just as opener). Tickets are on sale (at the newly redesigned Ticketweb).

I don't think it's going to be El Grupo Nuevo. Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group is generally formed by Juan Alderete (bass), the current Volta drummer, maybe his girlfriend Ximena Sariñana on vocals and his brother in percussion and keys.
They generally play jazzy improvs but his last album are more rock song oriented so maybe they'll represent that side more.

its definitely not El Grupo Nueveo... Zach Hill is doing his own thing. ORL Group change lineup all the time, and his brother is now on tour with Zechs Marquise, so who knows who/what itll be.

"11:56-yes,they are a bucnch of racist rednecks."

he/she might be referencing comments where they are really critical of white people/ their fans. they might have some hostility but 'extremely racist' seems like a gross overstatement.
