Siren Fest definitely happening in 2010 (date revealed)

Thanks Zach for pointing out that a date for the 2010 Coney Island Siren Festival was posted on their website: Saturday, July 17, 2010 (noon-9pm).

In the meantime browse through pictures of years past to start getting excited (or for the cynical, as a reminder of why you don't care)

broken social scene headlined one year already. I think they actually headlined the same year the pavement lead singer headlined also on the other stage.
lineups are usually really good.
the sound is awful however, thats true. All the bands end up sounding the same.

why does siren and pitchfork always conflict? and vv/siren should find another pa company. they always use the same company, abe v systems. their cabinets are ragged out and make a loud crackling noise because the wood vibrates. last year they overdrove the rf mics with the final act and the pa system sounded real bad.

actually, pavement are playing pitchfork on sunday, so technically they could play siren fest.... i'd be worried about the thousands of poor shlubs who shelled out the dough for those central park shows, A FULL YEAR IN ADVANCE!

yeah, i'm not usually one to bitch about siren, but considering pitchfork's lineup, and thinking about the shitty sound, typically bad openers, and early curfew, im glad i'm going to pitchfork this year instead.
