Todd P has been downplaying his participation in unofficial SXSW activities this year. He made people think he wasn't returning to Austin at all due to his latest effort in Mexico, the MtyMx Festival (March 20th-22nd in Monterrey).

Not only will he be in Austin, he's just announced five full days of shows at his old haunt Ms Bea's (though it's now called Cheer Up Charlie's). His final free Austin day show even overlaps with Mexico. That said, it looks like he did step away from SXSW at least a little bit. Almost every one of the lineups has a listed curator. "Downplaying", as in directly saying that he wasn't going to do SXSW. Not sure why the turnaround, perhaps ticket sales for the Mexico thing are really slow, or else he wanted the SXSW people to think he wasn't going to do it because they've threatened to shut down the Ms. Bea's shows in the past.
Either way, looks like some great lineups.

You people have it wrong. He's not doing SXSW because Mexico is failing. He downplayed SXSW so people wouldn't be discouraged from buying Mexico tickets

As a person of Austin descent, and an increasingly short-tempered sxsw critic, I'm just shocked that this much negative attention is being directed toward shows that are being thrown for the benefit of locals/visitors who can't afford the horrendous wristband prices. Who ever heard of a music festival discouraging music? Apparently this town isn't big enough for the little guys anymore.
