This site looks different.

Murphy's Law at Trash Bar is a fine St Patrick's Day show option if there ever was one.

Speaking of hardcore legends, Gang Green is playing Europa.

Scissor Sisters play two nights in a row at Bowery Ballroom and then head to Austin.

Tonight's Knitting Factory show is a benefit for Brooklyn's City Reliquary with Lucky Chops!, Frankenpine, Brian Dewan, Drink Me and Cecilia Brauer.

I'm pretty excited to hear NYC Taper's recording of the Wave Pictures set from our pre-SXSW show at Knitting Factory Monday night.

The city is going to be deader than normal this week and weekend due to SXSW in Austin where ten zillion bands have converged to play ten zillion shows. As mentioned a few times, seven of those are BrooklynVegan shows including two happening today. Flyers for those are below.

What else?

can't believe their bowery shows aren't sold out yet

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 10:24 AM

actually, the bowery shows are completely sold out.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 10:30 AM

Jimmy G in the place to be. Murphy's Law are always a good time.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 10:59 AM

"actually, the bowery shows are completely sold out."

Actually @10:30, you are a complete and utter moron who knows nothing about nothing. More tickets were put on sale yesterday and more will be avail today and tomorrow. Not to mention some sold at the door for both nights. You obviously have no clue as to how Bowery Presents works.

Arsehole.

Anon 10:30 is a scalper trying to get rid of his +1 haha

Posted by Anon 10:30 | March 17, 2010 11:20 AM

wow, what's with all the hostility 11:17?

all I'm saying is that you can't get tickets from ticketmaster, at least not now.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 11:21 AM

They released more tickets yesterday, but they only announced it through their fan-based website, so most people who learned through blogs liek this and could not get tix on regular sale still are unaware of the fact
Maybe BV could post a link, these shows are going to be amazing!

I just checked ticketmaster, and was able to pull up 2 tickets for tonight no problem. 10:30am is definitely a scalper.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 11:32 AM

This time I was able to get tickets. Still, thanks for being a dick, 10:30.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 11:34 AM

@10:30,11:21, No that is not what you were saying. You were trying to look like an authority and telling people the shows were completely sold out which is untrue. You are a fucking idiot.

Although this is kind of stupid. All this over the Scissor Sisters. Unless you are gay or a faghag these shows are not a big deal. Are the Scissor Sisters even relevant anymore. Not that they were that good a few years ago anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 11:35 AM

people are angry. i think if either of you have any balls, describe yourselves and show up outside the show and settle it. i'll be there too and i'll pay you each $10 to fight.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 11:38 AM

I would like to ask mister 11:35 what bands he considers "relevant" or "good" and what is his criteria to select those bands from the others
Everybody has the right to listen to and attend whatever shows they want. If the SS are too "gay" or whatever to you, then why are you even reading, let alone posting, on this thread?

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 11:57 AM

"The city is going to be deader than normal this week and weekend due to SXSW" = "shows will be a lot more fun to go to this week because they won't be full of irritating bloggers and industry people."

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 12:15 PM

@11:57, This is 11:35 here,
The first thing i have to say to you, my homosexual friend, is that this thread is about what is going on today in the city musically. Not a Scissor Sisters specific thread.

I understand how you may have mistaken that. You got your panties all in a bunch because someone insulted your heroes.

Yes everyone has a right to listen to what they want. Never did i say something to the contrary. Let your gay flag fly dude.

Listing bands that are better or more relevant than Scissor Sisters though is just way too easy so I will not even bother.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 1:30 PM

@1:30, I would tear that ass up

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 2:45 PM

lol u people are queer

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 3:03 PM

without any intention of getting involved in this argument I must say to 12:26 that anonymity gives you power, wonder if those words would ever come out of your mouth if you were to meet this band's fans in person...

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 3:04 PM

3:03 Up your nose with a rubber hose!

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 3:20 PM

Yeah 3:04, because telling a bunch of gay guys that Scissor Sisters suck is truly a scary thing to do in person. Maybe second only to screaming i hate black people in the middle of South Central, La

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 3:26 PM

You can scream I hate black people in Williamsburg whenever you want. No repercussions.

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 3:57 PM

Scissor Sisters suck, i am shocked that this is still even an argument

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 4:00 PM

I'd hit it like a fat midwestern American at an all-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet!

Posted by Anonymous | March 17, 2010 6:08 PM

Back off, I saw her first!

RIP Alex Chilton, you will be missed.

Thank you, friends, indeed.

Keep him - and others - in your prayers.

Spin "Thank You, Friends" in memoriam.

Stop arguing about garbage bands like the Scissor Sisters and go listen to a Big Star record. Alex Chilton was one of the greats.

Guggenheim billed it as a performance piece and it was just an installation. Resultingly, the crowd simply waited for the "show" to start, limiting anyone's ability to freely explore the space (the ground floor was packed with indian-style seaters, and the balconies were lined with people holding onto their spots like grim death.

Posted by منتديات | January 9, 2011 1:17 PM

it makes no sense for them to deconstruct the entire TD North venue to play a show the next night ~50 miles south at an amphitheater (which probably would require a different stage setup anyway). They'd play Providence or Mohegan Sun before that (and I think those are both highly unlikely).
