Did anyone go to the Black Lips gig last night? God, they were awful. I never saw Maxwell's so empty. Another chapter closes on another band. Days are very limited for this band

I'll see the Black Lips at the Bowery Ballroom instead because I wanted to catch Jay Banerjee & The Heartthrobs at the Merc. They're garage-pop like the Lips, only with more emphasis on the pop and without being old and without throwing piss at people. I do not regret my decision.

if you have an old browswer, the redesign doesn't allow for easy viewing. all text gets shifted to the left and overflows on the green gradient.

How can a band with the word FUCK in their name be allowed to play in a library. Really am I missing something? If I started a band named CUNT could we play a library? Or even get ANY press? Its so strange to me that overall, the word fuck has been relaxed in only a few years...
Looks like Tipper Gore failed.

lol rammstein all you want indeed,
it was the greatest rock circus ever seen
around here.
no american or british band put such a production on.
10 years in the waiting, that was an amazing show!
and coming from a veteran like myself, you better believe it.

The 'celebration of 8-bit music" took place on March 16th & 17th at the Highball in Austin. Leia was there on the 2nd day which was also the first night of SXSW Music. More of her pictures from the show (and the full lineup) is below...

These were some great shows! And @forums: if you saw one rammstein show, you want to go there again because these guys are so crazy with their show! It's unique!

Bands write about what they experience and recent events. Bands evolve and sounds change. That's what die-hard fans are, they like to see the change a band goes through and why and how it happened and how their experiences over the years reflect in their music. Matt Bellamy is still a fucking crazy musical genius, there's absolutely no doubt. It's not like he didn't write all the stuff they put out before. I could loop their entire discography all day. And now that they're way more renowned than before with The Resistance, people can't help but talk about "the old days" and "hating their new album" just because it's mainstream now. Sure, it's a a little different sound than the other albums, but it's not that different as far as making it "a bad album". Give me a break, just because a third of their setlist is the new album that's why you didn't go? Because the new album sucked, so you missed the whole show? Yeah right.
