With air travel out of the UK and Europe still at a standstill, and conditions predicted to deteriorate further due to the huge cloud of volcanic ash from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull, the members of Bad Lieutenant and their management have come to the disappointing decision to cancel their Chicago and New York dates that had been set to take place on Monday, April 19 and Wednesday, April 21, respectively.

"We're stuck in Manchester," said Bad Lieutenant's Bernard Sumner. "We were hoping that conditions might change at the last minute and we'd be able to come and play for our fans. Obviously, this is a situation out of everyone's control, and we are crushed that we won't be coming to America for these dates."

Since British air space was closed on Thursday morning, the band also canceled their planned appearances in San Francisco last night and today at the Coachella festival near Palm Springs, CA.

Refunds will be available for ticket holder at the point of purchase.

Bummer, and the second time the band were unable to play for us here in the US.

God, this has become a hat trick... The opening for Pixies and the other two shows they had with Bowery Presents... Will they ever come to New York successfully? Outlook not so good.

If the volcano next to the one now erupting with the glacier goes off as scientists predict it will that one will be 100 times worse than Eyjafjallajokull.

It could be worse; they could leave the dates scheduled, but having the shitty fucking opener from the Pixies replacing them. Goddamn were they terrible.

Oh god dammit, this is so f'ing frustrating. I'm never going to get to see New Order in any form. :(

And ticketmaster is still selling tickets to this show. I called them up and they said well until we hear further it is still on. I told them about the cancelation and where to find news but they were indifferent.

Is this all that little kid's fault?

That Coachella page is real chunky like myspace with all those pictures. Could be the people who shouldnt have their clothes off minus about two people in those half loading photos.

Wonderful post and the location is beautiful and elegant in design and information and everything>>> to Favorites
Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
