“The three-piece [Best Coast] are definitely a good time, packing thick, retro bass and drum lines that could have been ripped from ’60s girl groups, and then speeding it all up for scruffy, Ramones-inspired power pop. It’s a proven winning formula when it works, and work it does on humorous, peppy anthems such as “Wish He Was You.”” [La Times]

Best Coast played to a sold out crowd at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn on Tuesday night (4/6). Bethany Cosentino mixed a handful of new songs (the best of the lot, for me, continues to be “Boyfriend”) with crowd favorites like “When I’m With You” and “This Is Real”. Ali Koehler of the Vivian Girls guested on drums. Her VG bandmate, Cassie Ramone, was on stage earlier with excellent openers, The Babies, and Canadian band, The Bitters, were slotted in between.

The Bitters and Best Coast share a bill again tonight (4/7) at Mercury Lounge. More pictures from last night including one of the BC setlist, below…
