DOWNLOAD: Cap'n Jazz - Oh, Messy Life (MP3)

Capn Jazz

Cap'n Jazz announced that they were officially getting back together earlier this year. At the time we mentioned there would definitely be dates outside Chicago, and they did announce a few more since then. They're playing Forecastle Fest in KY on July 9th (initial lineup below), and there's a Friday, July 23rd show at The Black Cat in DC (tickets still on sale) and a Saturday, July 24th show at Starlight Ballroom in Philly (sold out). No NYC date has been announced yet, but it's coming and I'm guessing it will be Sunday, July 25th at Williamsburg Waterfront aka at one of the eight free Pool Parties still TBA for this summer. But that's still just a guess.

All dates and the initial Forcastle Fest lineup, below...

Ugh, cap'n jazz, please do not play a pool party. Please play something a little smaller. Please, please, please.

i like them, but i dont think their music is right for the waterfront shows. same way i felt about misson of burma

Mission of Burma was great at the Waterfront.

god i miss the Jade Tree days of yore.
why can't Jets to Brazil get back together and make a second good album to hold us over during these dark times?

Posted by yes this is jim | April 14, 2010 11:40 AM

I worked at Jade Tree for a little period during 04-05, still love that label...too bad it fell on hard times with their distribution getting cut.

Still my favorite label of all time.

Also praying for a Jets to Brazil reunion.

I have faith that club date will be added

wait really? you think they'd play a pool party? even in their hometown they're only playing a 400 cap venue. highly doubt they'd want to play the waterfront. i'm betting knitting factory.

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2010 4:49 PM

ideally they'll be playing opposite whatever douchebag show is going on that day.

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2010 5:41 PM

they are the douchebag show for that day.

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2010 10:21 PM

fuck jets to brazil i want jawbreaker

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2010 11:12 PM

^ That's exactly what I was going to post! Yes. Jawbreaker!!!! So good live.
Those jets can stay in Brazil...

Anyway wonder if cap'n jazz will even play NYC? Drat. Maybe I should have gotten a Philly ticket on the off chance they don't.
I'll chime in saying they shouldn't play a pool party in my opinion...
A smaller venue would be so right! Just like the old days, same energy bouncing off the walls.
I've been to the black cat in DC, and it's relatively small. Unsure about the philly venue, but it's probably not huge either. So going on that...
They'll probably play Market Hotel or something is my guess. Let's hope.

Any new news here? I can't wait for this show. I hope it's at the Knit and not the waterfront for obvious reasons and not Market Hotel because Todd P hates me.

Also, Jawbreaker was and remains horrible.

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.
