Coachella

Set times have been announced for this weekend's now sold-out Coachella Festival in Indio, California (April 16-18).

Promoter Paul Tollett of the Los Angeles-based Goldenvoice company said no single or three-day passes will be available at the box office for the festival running Friday through Sunday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.

In addition, no three-day passes will be pro-rated for people only attending the Saturday or Sunday mix of indie rock, hip-hop and other genres of popular music.

Camping passes were already sold out.

The city of Indio issued a permit for Goldenvoice to admit up to 85,000 people a day for the festival, but Tollett said he's cutting off attendance at 75,000 people a day.

With the set list came the addition of Interscope-signed South African rap group Die Antwoord, who play the fest on Saturday night (as Boing Boing said they probably would when they announced the signing).

For reunited bands Pavement, Public Image Limited, the Specials (on Kimmel tonight) and Faith No More, the fest will be among the first of their US shows, though all have California dates before Coachella. They're all also scheduled to play NYC (with dates that range from next week to September).

Grace Jones was part of the original Coachella lineup announcement, but has since dropped off. Set times posted below...

DIE ANTWOORD will either be the best or the worst part of the festival. There is no in between.

considering they're playing the raver tent, it wont have that much on an impact of random bystanders

Whoa a whole 20 minutes for Die Antwoord?? Big time stuff here.

Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2010 12:56 PM

true that.

Also, there are way too many conflicts of great acts. Beach House, Band of Skulls (sick live show) or White Rabbits? Girls, Camera Obscura, or Frightened Rabbit? Miike Snow, Spoon or Phoenix?????

My god, festivals are great and all but in the end, you gotta miss half the bands you want to see.

Cannot fucking wait. Coachella is the best.
Mew was also dropped, btw.

sounds like hell on earth. festivals are for hippies.

looking foward to this weekend......a few conflicts, but generally happy.

First time in 10 years we haven't gone to Coachella and we're bummed we're missing the new in and out policy. The partying in the campground will be out of control. The crowds will be much more manageable coming and going if you're not camping.

Should be a great festival...as always. Grace Jones really would have been the cherry though.

coachella is kind of lame now, would much rather go to sasquatch. better lineup and venue there.

Whats going to happen to these festivals after every band ever has reunited and cashed out?

Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2010 1:58 PM

Can't wait. Best top to bottom lineup they've ever had imo.

The Gorge is indeed a beauty venue BUT you are at the mercy of the weather. I'd rather bake in Indio than freeze in George any day of the week.

Thank goodness Toilet sold out the show cause this darn festival of mish mash bands (besides Camera Obscura who are good) looks like the crapper.
Give me some stale water for 8 bucks in degrading plastic and long lines.
Im so glad I hardly know who MGMT is at all.

And please Devo be more particular about the shows you play when you make enough from studio work and other shows.

"ah nothing like being with 74,999 of my closest friends"

coachella is more like 55-60, 75-80 is more like bonnaroo
