Liars

EXPRESS: What challenges do you face in bringing such intricate music to a rowdy, live situation?

ANDREW: In the past, I felt like the live and the recorded aspect are really different, and you have the opportunity to reinterpret or basically destroy songs that were so carefully put together on the record. Recently, I've felt a bit more protective of those particular sounds we made on the record. We've brought on two additional musicians to play with us so some of these things won't get lost. It's nearly impossible, but attempting it is a new challenge.

Liars' current tour has them playing NYC twice. The first took place last night at Bowery Ballroom where Chazz Slumber says, it was "a perfect set list [that] covered the entire catalog. Angus is officially indie rocks best front man.". Tonight they hit Philly. Then Boston, and Sunday it's the 2nd NYC show, this time at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets are still on sale.

Fol Chen opens all dates on the tour (including last night at Bowery), and also plays an in-store at Sound Fix on Sunday. Check our our interview with Liars from SXSW. More pictures from Bowery Ballroom below...

BRING BACK PAT AND RON !!

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2010 1:43 PM

Pat's busy in his own awesome band.. anyone know what Ron's up to these days? anyway it was frigging AMAZING that they pulled out a first-album track last night anyway.. Haven't heard one of those live since '02 or so. Viva LIARS

Is that a Men Without Hats t-shirt the guy from Fol Chen is wearing?

"Pat's busy in his own awesome band"

These Are Powers? Blah. I really liked No Things. Wonder why that band did nothing.

Last night's show was good. Could have been longer. Karen O walked in toward the end.

N0 Things were great, sad they broke up right when their excellent album just came out.. but TAP are pretty exciting to me, more forward thinking if not as consistently successful musically.. seriously though what is Ron doing these days? what a beast on the drums

I was surprised at how many people in the crowd were screaming for "Mr. You're On Fire, Mr."

Seems like an unlikely track for them to play, even if that first album fucking slays.

Also, VERY short set.

Nice breasts on the Foi Chen keyboard player.

Karen O walked in with the art school girls of doom and the place was lit up with an aura of a special kids contest.

I saw Liars open up for Interpol a few times in 2007 and they were total shite..There you happy?

great tonight at MHOW too. they did "Freak Out." they also did "The Garden Was Crowded And Outside" again...amazing to hear them stretch back to that first album.

Fol Chen were impressive-their electro side more so than the folkie side.
