Mutek

Montreal's 11th annual Mutek electronic music festival, put on by an arts non-profit of the same name, will be happening this year from June 2nd to 6th. The lineup covers the spectrum of digital sounds, from avant-garde noise acts like Tim Hecker and Nurse With Wound, to Matmos, Mouse on Mars and late-night DJ sessions. The full schedule of acts is here.

Passport tickets are available (those cover all five days) as are weekend passes - both packages are on early bird presale until April 20th.

If you're curious about the fest, check out BrooklynVegan's photo and review coverage of Mutek 2009 in four parts - one, two, three and four. Mutek also just kicked off a series of monthly podcasts, the first of which features Mexican DJ Mauricio Rebolledo

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.
