Real Estate @ SXSW (more by Dominick Mastrangelo)
Real Estate

Real Estate's new EP, Reality, on Mexican Summer is sold out (including a repressed Record Store Day edition that came with a cassette) in physical form but you can get it digitally from the usual sources. This past Sunday the NJ band played a Kidrockers show at Bowery Ballroom. How was that? What did your kids think?

And there is much more touring in Real Estate's future. In May they head to Europe followed by a brief trip to the west coast. Then not long after the Woodsist Northside show at MHOW on June 25th, the band will go out on a North American tour with Kurt Vile. That trip includes NYC-area shows at Le Poisson Rouge on July 9th (tickets) and Maxwell's on July 10th (tickets).

All dates mentioned so far are before Real Estate plays a free summer show with Deerhunter in August. All dates below...

i fucking hate real estate. just a band who found a little tinge with a nice drum sound on a record that made pitchfork's record of the day or some shit. kurt vile should have headlined. i missed most of his set hoping that he play last anyway.

guess what? Kurt Vile was not good at all Friday night. Just boring and not into it, and the band seemed like a bunch of guys he likes to party with, that's all...

So much controversy! I gotta check this out tonight in Pittsburgh and figger out for myself who should be headlining and who is the true vegan.

Real estate rules. What a great name, and a great look. I wonder if they have dressed down more because of the real real estate crisis.

you guys are a bunch of idiots.
Real Estate is good, so is Kurt. Bands have bad nights. Learn to just be happy with music instead of being a douche about it

I've seen Kurt vile maybe twice in Philly, both times just completely lackluster. So much reverb on the voice he might as well be auto-tuned and seriously Freak Train? That's right, he has a song called freak train. The chorus is "we're all riding the freak train, train, train train." decide for yourself.

I think both bands have some talent. Real Estate has some great songs. I think this would be a good show to go see. I would love to go to the May 26th one in Paris, make it part of my trip.
