Just ran into Shepard Fairey right after watching exit through the gift shop. Well planned Shepard -Wheelaa
Houston and Bowery (via)

Artist Shepard Fairey, who unlike Banksy is not afraid to show his face, started work on a mural yesterday at the corner of Houston and Bowery, just a few blocks from Landmark Sunshine Cinema where Exit Through the Gift Shop, a doc directed by Banksy and featuring Fairey, is screening. A picture of the completed mural is below.
The mural is a promotion for May Day, Fairey's upcoming show at Deitch Projects, which'll be the last exhibit ever at Deitch (which is closing).
Work on it continued into the night (and should continue today... someone that lives across the street just told me it appears to be now finished...) - you can see the progress and the completed mural in the pictures below. One of the videos reports that the mural will be up for 6 months. That video and others with more pictures and details on the exhibit are below...

Shepard Fairey & Bowery-Houston Mural / Deitch Projects II April 20th, 2010
Banksy's Exit Through The Gift Shop (Exclusive 5 min Extended Sneak Peek)

Solo Exhibition featuring new works by Shepard FaireyOpening Reception on May 1st, 6-9pm
May 01, 2010 -- May 29, 2010Deitch Projects
18 Wooster Street, New York CityDeitch Projects is pleased to present May Day, an exhibition of new work by Shepard Fairey, as its final project. Titled not only in reference to the day of the exhibition's opening, the multiple meanings of May Day resonate throughout the artist's new body of work. Originally a celebration of spring and the rebirth it represents, May Day is also observed in many countries as International Worker's Day or Labor Day, a day of political demonstrations and celebrations coordinated by unions and socialist groups. "Mayday" is also the distress signal used by pilots, police and firefighters in times of emergency.

Well that's a shame; the mural that was there already was quite awesome.

"RIGHT WING DENIES SCIENCE" reads the newspaper over the woman's face.
Apparently Shepard knows nothing of a little thing called Climategate exposed via Wikileaks by a whistle-blower.
I, like Jesse Ventura, have changed my mind on Global Warming: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svRUcX9Q9yU

Oh, dude, you just don't the 'truth'--check your local listings or call your local television provider for a show called "Conspiracy Theory" hosted by an ex-Professional Wrestler...then you'll know what the man doesn't want you to.

Please show me anything in any of those "climategate" emails that shows anything that could prove the climate scientists were lying about anything. It is a non-story that has been blown out of proportion because of GOP lies.
The teabaggers will scream and cry that global warming is fake up until the day they are drowning from the ice caps melting.
Even if global warming isn't real, so what? So we stop burning coal, and stop buying oil from dictators who want to murder us? All of the things we need to do to prevent global warming are things we should be doing anyway.
Science says Global warming is real. Rich people with corporate interests say it is fake.

Politics says "Global Warmning" is real, oh wait, they've rebranded it "Climate Change" conveniently because the Earth is in a cooling trend, and coupled with the less frequency of solar flares in recent years.
Implementing new taxation to prevent "Climate Change" (which, coincidentally, has allowed evolution to happen and life to exist on this planet) is a fucking scam.
Anytime a movement becomes an industry is loses all credibility because capital supplants any benevolence in its goals.
If you're worried about offsetting and carbon dioxide, plant trees and rehabilitate wetlands and forests with your friends. Grow your own fruits and vegetables and harvest them. Don't buy what the corporations and governments are selling to you, do what you can for yourself to improve your own life.
P.S.: Good riddance to Deitch Projects. One less commercial "art" gallery will hopefully let artists with actual voices to be heard.

What do you mean "politics says it is real" The GOP says it isn't. Are they not part of politics? They probably shouldn't be , because all they do is lie and say no to things.
Climate Change is a better phrase because deniers say stupid things like "It's snowing out, so that proves that global warming isn't happening", as if a 3 degree rise in temperature (which would be catastrophic for the planet's inhabitants) would stop snow from ever falling again.
It is also a better phrase because, while the earth is getting warmer (global warming), it cause s other crazy things to happen. The warming of one spot, can do things like move the jet stream (or get rid of it altogether) which is what happened last summer. The Jet Stream moved, and Seattle had nice weather all summer while New York got Seattle's weather.

With the “obey” there is a fine line between pointing out fascism and being used as a tool by fascist.

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.
