Silversun Pickups

Silversun Pickups are set to announce a summer tour today. While we wait for the full dates, we can say that one of those shows will happen Friday, June 25th at Williamsburg Waterfront. Also on the bill are Florida punks with a new album on the way Against Me! and L.A.'s The Henry Clay People (who also have a new disc, Somewhere on the Golden Coast, due in June on TBD Records). Tickets go on sale Saturday at noon.

UPDATE: All dates announced. They include Wellmont Theater. Check them out below.

Silversun Pickups join Modest Mouse, Faith No More and Nas & Damian Marley, all of whom also have shows scheduled at the Waterfront this summer.

Against Me! are on tour now. They play Asbury Park on April 29th.

SP's last record, Swoon, came out in April 2009. A video of the band playing their song "Panic Switch" from that on Jimmy Kimmel in January is posted below with all tour dates...

The night before, June 24th, the same lineup will be at the Wellmont in Montclair....

Man this is such a damn sweet bill. Three quality acts. I remember Henry Clay People from Toxic Airborne Event. Too bad I am going to be cruising the Mediterranean during that time. Second concert to strike from my record, first one being the New Pornographers.

since they're going to be doing expensive pay shows, has anyone heard if the waterfront people are going to get a "real" stage / soundsystem this year as opposed to the high school thing that jelly had last summer?

Posted by Anonymous | April 19, 2010 10:08 AM

$34 before fees and shipping, prob be almost $45 a ticket, i'll wait for the last minute craigslist people trying to get rid of them day of for $20

Wellmont should be a great venue to see them

Why don't they get some reggae bands to play this waterfront shinding?

Give me Toots and They Maytals, Burning Spear even UB40 over this garbage.

Basically its like this. if anyone saw paid McCarren shows vs the Pool Parties there it will be similar to that situation. (ie. the paid shows will have much better production)

I hear Creed is going to play the Waterfront this summer too.

I hope they play that sweet Florida Marlins song the dude just wrote.

@Anon 11:01 - I love SSPU, but i thought I was the only one who thought that he looked like Farraday from Lost...

Posted by Anonymous | April 19, 2010 12:49 PM

Why isn't nickelback on the bill? Damn.

Posted by Anonymous | April 19, 2010 1:39 PM

Some of my turds have a clay-like consistency.

Posted by Anonymous | April 19, 2010 1:56 PM

Anon 11:01 - well played

Posted by Anonymous | April 19, 2010 2:07 PM

Ugh! C'mon SSPUs play a PROPER gig in NYC! Not outdoors, not in the bowels of NJ, IN NYC!

Posted by Anonymous | April 19, 2010 2:22 PM

Against Me is supporting SSPU? jesus, i guess silversun really got bigger than I thought. I remember seeing them years ago in a barely sold out 250-capacity place.

Posted by Anonymous | April 19, 2010 3:17 PM

silversun delivers live..saw them upstate at northern lights by albany with cage the elephant..that was a good show. not too sure about this against me thing..

also to 11:01...good farraday spotting..but where do you find flaws with his voice?

I heard that Pickle that beat Nickleback is the headliner

I went to see Band of Horses play the Williamsburg Waterfront last night as my first time to that venue. Security there was tighter than at an airport. The line for a 21+ bracelet was a mile long. Which is separate from the lines to get an actual drink. My friends and i actually just wanted to get some food, but the food tents were in the sectioned off area for those with 21+ bracelets. and by the way we're all over 30. The rest of the floor was also gated off and heavily guarded by event staff who would only let people in when it wasn't "at capacity" which they claimed even though there was clearly space inside and at least 20% of the audience was outside these barricades. So either the event staff were unnecessarily stringent with letting people into a show for which they paid a decent amount to see, or the event organizers sold more tickets than there was capacity. Whichever the case, this venue is a scam, and nothing like what McCarren used to be.

has anyone been to a show this year, what time does the headliner go on?

Posted by George | June 25, 2010 3:40 PM
