The Specials on Fallon...
The Specials

Central Park SummerStage
has yet to announce their schedule of free summer shows, but when they do, it will include The Specials on August 22nd. Speaking of the Specials, the band appeared on Fallon last night as a kick-off to their very short April North American reunion tour. The next show is Thursday, April 15th in LA followed by Coachella on Friday. Then there's a Toronto show and two NYC gigs at Terminal 5 (April 20th & 21st). The first of those still has tickets.

The songs they played for Jimmy Fallon were "Message to You, Rudy" (on TV) and "Little Bitch" (which Fallon posted as a web-only clip). Videos of both of those, and all dates, below...

The Specials - A Message To You, Rudy (Late Night With Jimmy Fallon 04-13-10)

And speaking of UK groups that have reunited with less than all of their members and are currently in the United States to play Coachella and other dates and late night TV, check out videos of Public Image Ltd on Kimmel.

Um...what year is it in Late Night Television?

PiL on Kimmel, Specials on Fallon. Are there really no good contemporary bands left?

Wait a minute...is that singer with the hat and dreads really Neville Staples?!? I don't think it is. Neville is half the energy of the band, especially nowadays. If he's not at Terminal 5, I'm gonna be pissed!

You're right, that's not Neville. The guy performing with them was Trevor Evans.

Do you know why Anon6:02? Visa issues?!? Neville is definitely in all the ex-US videos of the reunion lineup that I've seen. This Trevor guy sucks compared to Neville...he's not even tied into the rhythm of the songs when he dances. Fuck!

What I'm hearing is that Neville's traveling with the band, but he's been ill.

FREE!!!! Can't be hating that.

actually there are people here that hate on free summerstage shows. they would actually rather pay money. something about it being less of a hassle. but they are idiots.

Not paying money for things is for do-do heads.

"Are there really no good contemporary bands left?"

NO!! There really aren't! ahaha!

HOLY SHIT THE SPECIALS FOR FREE?!?!?!

There is nothing to complain about free shows you can easily get into. However free shows for popular acts suck big time. They are always too crowded and a lot of people who love the bands can't get in. Just make the popular shows $5, so that you can lose the people who are only there because it's free. Money can be used more free/cheap shows.

i love the Specials, i will be seeing them tomarro at the Nokia yay!!

Gabba Gabba hey

hey NBC! You should totally deny access to streams! You matter!

Funny how the Specials wrote it, but NBC 'owns' it.

Haven't tuned to NBC for years btw. TV sux.

Cheers!

What time do the 'free' shows usually start around?

Does anyone know who will be opening for The Specials at Terminal 5?

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.
