Wellmont Theater - 4/3/2010 (DJRichRusso)
Wilco

"Great Show indeed, definitely couldn't rattle off every song, but heres some highlights:

- The band played a great Outtamind (outtasite) to end the acoustic set, THEN did Outta- Site (outtamind) in the encore as well. Don't think ive ever seen a band do the same song twice in one night, i loved it
- Muzzle of Bees was a dinner winning request, and it ruled!
- Band played A LOT of summerteeth. Can't Stand It, Shot in the Arm, I'm Always in Love, When You Wake Up Feeling Old (acoustic), Summer Teeth, Candyfloss. I might be missing a few
- No Heavy Metal Drummer, No Handshake Drugs, No Late Greats, but ive seen all those enough that i really didn't give a shit tonight
- 2 Big Star covers to finish off the main set: Thank you friends, followed by In the Street
- Dreamer in my Dreams and You and I were some great acoustic set highlights

Overall, its really tough to compare the two shows. I give the slightest edge to the first night, which was a bit more varied and rocking throughout in my opinion. I also knew basically all of the songs Friday night, while i heard a few unfamiliar ones in the main set and the acoustic set tonight. But two great shows for sure!" [A Cherry Ghost]

Wilco played another three hour show at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ last night (Saturday, 4/3). Setlist and pictures from the first night, HERE. Saturday night's setlist below...

The "Outtasite" in the acoustic set should be changed to "Outta Mind". I messed that up when I posted last night. Tired.

Seeing them in RI tonight...what's this about them giving away dinners?

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2010 10:38 AM

10:38... about the dinners.. at both wellmont shows they picked 2 people in the audience who had requested songs on their website... supposedly they were freebees given to them as a touring rock band

I saw the Stooges do "I Wanna Be Your Dog" twice in the same show. It was that garage rock festival on Randall's Island in 2004.

...and they agreed to not give out any dinners in RI tonight, sorry!

ween also played fiesta to open and close their second night at term 5 a couple years back

I was at the show - it was excellent, they never disappoint.

With Outta Mind (outta sight) and Outta sight (outta mind)...they are two different takes on the song, which is how they live on the album, "Being There", so I wouldn't say they played the same song twice, but both versions that are featured on the album.

they are the new grateful dead

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2010 2:21 PM

one key difference...the dead sucked, wilco is great.

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2010 3:03 PM

what is this 'dinners' thing everyone is talking about?

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2010 7:38 PM

pixies also played two versions of wave at those doolittle shows last year

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2010 8:46 PM

I saw Neil Diamond at MSG a couple of years ago and he played "Sweet Caroline" twice... in a row!

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2010 10:04 PM

are the dinners prepared by Jeff Tweedy?

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2010 10:28 PM

THREE FUCKING HOURS?!?!?

Posted by Anonymous | April 4, 2010 10:49 PM

after this show I've decided they're the best rock band around these days. Their last couple shows left me feeling a little underwelmed but this show kicked ass!!

Does amyone know which records Hesitating Beauty and Laminated Cat are from?

Posted by Anonymous | April 5, 2010 12:40 PM

laminated cat is from loose fur, hesitating beauty is from mermaid ave vol 1. if you don't have mermaid ave, i suggest you run quickly and buy now.

went friday and although the setlist was great, the sound was pretty awful. did no one else think it sounded like it was turned up to 13 and underwater? could've been a sweet show, but instead left me annoyed.

Posted by yaya | April 5, 2010 3:57 PM

Was there an opening band or no?

Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2010 10:04 AM

yaya - i thought the sound was dreadful too, but was stuck up in nosebleed balcony land and figured it was because of where i was. fwiw, i thought some of the songs worked in the pseudo-acoustic set worked (You & I and Hesitating Beauty come to mind) but others didnt. the transition back into the full electric set was pretty damn cool tho - very slick.
