Dan Deacon @ Broadway Backyard in May 2009 (more by Tim Griffin)
Dan Deacon

Dan Deacon is playing for free in Red Hook Park on Tuesday, June 15th, and he's also at Bonnaroo. And he's also going to be playing the much more intimate Cake Shop on Saturday, May 29th as part of the venue's month-long five-year anniversary. Full lineup TBA ($10, 8pm doors, 21+).

Don't expect any big open spaces for dance contests like the one that's about to happen in the picture above. Do expect a very hot and crowded and fun basement show, sort of like the one in the video below...

Very happy he's playing these NY shows - I now have little reason to go to Bonnaroo. Hope he brings the Ensemble to the Red Hook show.

I don't see the appeal either. It's like listening to someone scream over Nintendo's Excitebike soundtrack. AWFUL. He's all bells and whistles.

Dear Nerd,
You Stink!

totally sucks.

dan is significant. its not about him being for the 21-and-unders, it more about how you guys really don't remember how to have fun at shows and remember what its like to feel youthful. while i would actually never want to participate in a dan deacon live show and be surrounded by his fans, i can see the sheer excitement involved. plainly, its not for you. i'm NO supporter of chiptune and 8bit, and dan's as original as any other extremely important artist, you can hear brilliance in every second of Bromst that goes far beyond the other bullshit sounding electronic blipcore stuff that is more or less dan ripoff. anyway, he's great and you're dead inside.

"dead inside" The cliche phrase of the times

^^^ Dork

Just because I'm dead inside doesn't mean that Dan Deacon doesn't suck ass.

you'd go to bonnaroo just to see DD? he plays in nyc about 50 times a year.

Try (which is five years old). Don't use "who" because a business is not a person.

Such a fun show...but so insanely hot. I was at the table below the trippy green skull and some really trashy "sassy girls" were messing with his equipment before the show started and spilling beer on it, and the dude next to me should give deodorant a shot, but all in all a lot of fun.
