DA Dylan

The National's High Violet came out Tuesday. They also used that occassion to release a video for the song "Bloodbuzz Ohio." That clip, which features Matt Berninger, his infamous glass of wine, and documentarian D.A. Pennebaker as a bartender, is posted below.

The band's High Violet Annex events kicked off last night with a low key few hours of DJing from members of Blonde Redhead and a ticket contest for Saturday's BAM show. Contests like that will be happening each day at the space which is next to Other Music. Tonight, Wednesday, there's also a full lineup of bands playing. Lineups for the rest of the nights still TBA.

Speaking of D.A. Pennebaker, he'll be directing a live webcast of the BAM show on YouTube Saturday night. And speaking of ticket contests for the show, we also have two pairs to give away courtesy of the show's sponsor, Zync. Contest details, with the above-mentioned video and a Pennebaker/Dylan (both pictured above) rehash to promote the show, below...

"Two pairs in the balcony! woohoo"

Is that sarcasm complaining about the location of the seats you got for free, or actual excitement that you landed some seats in the balcony?

Wondering the same thing myself

So I went last night too: here's my report:
the space is good size for NYC, about 700 square feet? (I am terrible at guessing size)
When you walk in there was a guy giving out tickets, saying at 8p they would give out a pair of tickets to the BAM show.
Could hold about 100 or less people. bare concrete floors, a couple of paintings on the left wall (didn;t recognize any names on this wall) this wall also has a soundboard, straight ahead is a stage, there were DJ's last night, not playing national music.
On the left wall are a few more paintings, there was one with the last name Dessner. But in the middle of the wall there are some headphones, no one was listening, so I put them on. Its about 15/20 minutes of HIGH VIOLET outtakes. That was worth the trip.
There were some HIGH VIOLET metallic balloons on the ceiling, and thats about it.
Not to crowded, seemed as if it was a meet up point for people.
Vinyl & CD's are for sale at Other Music next door. No drinks, sales, etc at the Annex.
Probably going again tonight to see some of the bands.
Have fun....
