Man's Gin
Man's Gin

Man's Gin will make their first NYC appearance (and first public outing, to my knowledge) TONIGHT (5/21) at Trash Bar in Brooklyn starting at 11PM. For the unfamiliar, Man's Gin features Erik Wunder of the great Cobalt. He's also a member of Jarboe's band (Jarboe is playing Union Pool next Tuesday).

In related news, another member of Jarboe's band, Fade Kainer, plays in Batillus who will play Union Pool on July 13th alongside Salome and Landmine Marathon. Batillus is currently recording their new LP with Sanford Parker and have a studio diary at MetalSucks.

Union Pool is such a bad little venue for shows.
The front is jammed full of people for the meat market hip fest, and the back room is too small with over priced drinks.

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.
