DOWNLOAD: The Arcade Fire - Black Mirror (MP3)

Paw Tracks is excited to present the first in a series of limited edition seven inch singles by Animal Collective's Panda Bear. There will be several limited singles total (on different labels), and each one will bring us closer and closer to the much anticipated release of the Tomboy full length.Over the weekend news broke that new music from Panda Bearand Arcade Fire would be on the way shortly. The Amazon info about Panda Bear's "Tomboy" single (b-side "Slow Motion") says that it'll be out July 13th.
Arcade Fire's 12-inch single for "Suburbs/Month of May" is due soon (possibly by June 1), as revealed by a note from the band on their website.
Both act have shows this summer (Panda Bear's are mostly abroad, Arcade Fire have some in Europe and Canada), including stops in Chicago (Panda Bear at Pitchfork Fest, Arcade Fire at Lollapalooza) but nothing in New York as of now.
Richard from Arcade Fire played with The National at BAM on Saturday (more on that in a sec). Sarah from the Arcade Fire played with the Luyas at one of their Brooklyn shows in April.
Arcade Fire's note is below...

I bet new Arcade Fire will be a huge let down....
new Panda Bear will be more guitar driven and people will complain....
definitely more excited for new Portishead, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada :), the Avalanches, Radiohead, Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse....

Arcade Fire? Let down? I doubt that very highly. Even if it sucks, people will love it.

Agree with 9:55....
Didn't get into Neon Bible as much as Funeral for sure....
those Judson Church shows were fun but nothing will beat those Bowery or Mercury Lounge shows back in the day....and can't forget Knitting Factory show!

their music is the same. your tastes have changed.
i hate when people can't make that distinction. album 3 could be their best yet and you would still think Funeral is better.

Wow, you were at Arcade Fire's first shows in the city. In small venues too? Good for you. Am I pissed that I missed the Merc show? Sure. Who wouldn't be? Just don't deny that those Webster, Irving, Summerstage, Judson, Radio City, United Palace and Randall's Island shows were all rad.

Their first show in Win's basement was the last good one they played... yeah I was there so I know...

My favorite shows were Win's first guitar lessons back in '98-99. Even then, you just knew.

the best shows were win's mom singing to him while he was in her womb. you knew by how she sang that he would go on to give great performances.

To anon 10:24am
I only went to Randall's Island show out of 6 shows you mentioned....oh wait I did go to Irving show though.
and I'll say that LCD was much better than Arcade Fire at Randall's Island...
P.S. Didn't make it out to United Palace or Radio City cause Bjork shows are more important than Arcade Fire shows :)

i personally don't think betting on new music being a let down is particularly interesting, cool, sexy, smart, or basically anything worthwhile. listening to new music and hopefully enjoying it can be fun though.

"I bet new Arcade Fire will be a huge let down."
Considering that their first 2 albums were great and overall loved by most that listened, I guess I can see the logic in your statment.
Ps- you wanna have a Bright Eyes album release party? I'd really like to meet you and discuss music together. NERD!

I think you guys are completely misreading that first comment. Seemed more playful than serious to me. Kind of like your mothers. Good day.

Best show hands down was Central Park. Predictions for the first gig back at NYC?

It can't be any worse than the horrible album the national just put out
