wouldn't it be cool if they did a tour in the US and spoon opened up?

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 5:20 PM

i like it because it's so familiar

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 5:27 PM

and if they played MSG

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 5:29 PM

These two songs don't sound very interesting at all. The Suburbs is like every other generic jangly indie pop song and the Month of May sounds like Antichrist Television Blues (Punk Version).

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 5:32 PM

is THE SUBURBS a lose cover of Sleepy Jacksons GOOD DANCERS?

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 5:40 PM

they're not gonna top their Funeral album

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 5:41 PM

The Toronto show Aug 12 and tickets are on sale now thru ArcadeFire.com. Just sayin

Posted by Harry | May 26, 2010 6:15 PM

$64 for the toronto show ???? ouch. and i thought $40 was kind of steep for randall's island (though lcd, lsf, blonde redhead et. al totally made up for that)

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 6:22 PM

@6:22 that was a long time ago. must have been the night of your life.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 6:37 PM

Greatest band in the world. Y'all are jealous.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 6:49 PM

I really liked. That makes me uncool hum?!

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 7:09 PM

whats the best way to scratch your balls without getting your fingrers stinky?

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 7:18 PM

7:18 - A rake?

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 7:22 PM

@6:22 If you think $40 was steep for that show (Arcade Fire, LCD, Blonde Redhead and Les Savy Fav), then you are either out of touch with reality or just an effing nitwit!

I was there and yes, it was worth it!

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 7:24 PM

@6:22

CHEAP ASS (probably unemployed)

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 7:57 PM

I agree with Anonymous | May 26, 2010 5:32 PM.

The lyrics to the b-side are terrible. Really, "We're gonna make a record in the month of May?"

Posted by LKJ | May 26, 2010 8:33 PM

who gives a shit, who gives a fuck

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 8:35 PM

Suburbs is bland and (admit it) you wouldn't give it fifteen seconds if the name Arcade Fire wasn't attached to it.

Month of May is a better song despite a few cringeworthy lyrics, but if these are the strongest offerings from the new album, I'm not expecting great things. Or even good things.

I loved Funeral. This hurts me as much as it hurts you.

Posted by crrrrritic | May 26, 2010 9:05 PM

@7:57 i am unemployed and think that was more than a fair price, please don't give unemployed people a bad name...it's not always there fault

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 9:30 PM

Month of Meh

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 9:45 PM

i like these songs. ya'll are silly hipsters.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 10:06 PM

I'm down with these songs. They're headed in a better direction.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 10:45 PM

I know Arcade Fire, sir, and this is no Arcade Fire. Wait... this IS Arcade Fire? Shit.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 10:50 PM

somewhere, the dudes from The National are smirking

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 11:42 PM

@ 5:50 as they finally they are putting on this "hip" new dj called girl talk.

Posted by Anonymous | May 27, 2010 12:21 AM

i like the vibe i get of safety and positivity

Posted by Anonymous | May 27, 2010 7:54 AM

weak.

Posted by Anonymous | May 27, 2010 8:18 AM

I didn't love these songs, but they could be growers. I like that the band seems to be heading in a new direction.

I'm really curious, does anyone still play "Neon Bible?"

If I'm in the mood to listen to Arcade Fire, I put on "Funeral."

Posted by Dan | May 27, 2010 9:02 AM

well done, 945

it's interesting.. i've found that with most people i know when you ask them they say that 'funeral' is the best record but when you ask them when they feel like arcade fire what album they put on more of my friends say 'neon bible.' i think we all burnt out on funeral when it came out from listening so much. i love neon bible. kinda worried after hearing suburbs that i've outgrown this band. hopefully the album proves me wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | May 27, 2010 10:34 AM

suburbs sounds like Badly Drawn Boy?

Posted by Anonymous | May 27, 2010 10:59 AM

Dan wrote, "I'm really curious, does anyone still play "Neon Bible?""

No, I don't. I wasn't fond of that album upon its release and I'm still not. Keep the Car Running will always be a fave tune, but I find the album bland and not short on cringeworthy lyrics. Funeral is my go-to should I care to play the band any more.

Posted by LKJ | May 27, 2010 7:04 PM

neon bible is garbage, epitome of sophomore slump

Posted by chris hayes | May 27, 2010 7:18 PM

..which is a shame considering how good funeral is, they're self titled ep is solid too

Posted by chris hayes | May 27, 2010 7:19 PM

Neon Bible wasn't exactly Funeral, but there's at least five damn good songs on the record. Not a failure by any means, unless you're a dick.

These songs however... let's just say it's pretty hard to convince myself to listen to either a second time. Mad boring.

Posted by carlos | May 27, 2010 8:55 PM

I wasn't a big fan of them either, I hope these aren't their best works..

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.

you dave haters can go fuck yourselves. bonnaroo 2010 was 4 of the best days of my life. the DMB and JayZ headliners at the main stage were two of the best shows I've ever seen, musically and production speaking. 2011 'roo is going to be amazing. Phish headlining?

they also played at a place called Tramps in april '99 losers. with qotsa. where were you? you guys sound pretty angry? go listen to something hip. whatever the fuck you think that is. why does james iha need to be in the band for them to be good? that makes no sense. so the band changed lineups. oh well.

I absolutely love 'The Suburbs'. The music is great, the lyrics are awesome, and I think it would make a great single. Does anyone know if it is going to be a single?

Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
