The New York Dolls

New York Dolls played a show at Warsaw in Brooklyn on Saturday, May 22nd with openers Foxy Shazam and Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black. The ticketholders from the canceled Naughty by Nature show were invited to attend the NY Dolls gig, as were (reportedly) residents of the Ohm apartment building in Chelsea.

Coming up, frontman David Johansen has a show of his own at Highline Ballroom on June 27th (tickets). Batusis, Syl Sylvain's group with the Dead Boys' Cheetah Chrome, have a tour this July with a date at NY's Irving Plaza on July 23rd. Tickets are on sale, and that will be the New York debut of the band (they weren't on the Joey Ramone B-day show as previsouly reported). The Dolls also have a three shows (non-NYC) in June.

Those dates and more pictures from the show are below...

What, the Fillmore at Irving Plaza wasn't ridiculous enough a name? Now it's the Fillmore EAST at Irving Plaza?

This band is such an embarrassment live. Someone should put them out of their misery with a fat enough check to keep them out of the public eye for the rest of their days....

Saw these guys years ago when they first "reunited" at Little Stephen's R 'n R Garage whatever at Randall's Island and thought they sounded great. Haven't caught them since, but these guys are what rock bands should be.

So tired of bearded nerds in plaid shirts...

Pretty swell concert, all the bands were good; although, the tight space caused Foxy Shazam to fail at many of their antics. Scored Johansen's setlist, WIN!

"This band is such an embarrassment live. Someone should put them out of their misery with a fat enough check to keep them out of the public eye for the rest of their days...."

Stupid and silly comment from an ill-informed retard. The NY Dolls are about as far away from an embarrassment as any reunited legendary band could be. They are one million times better live than any bullshit new indie band could ever hope to be.

My guess is that the person who posted the above comment hasn't even ever seen them live.

NEW YORK DOLLS ARE A GIFT FROM THE ALMIGHTY G-D OF ROCK N ROLL

the real question is: how much did foxy shazam's label pay to get them on that bill? those dudes are completely flops / losers.

What happened to Karen Black's awesome Japanese guitar player?!

Foxy Shazam is great live but their new record sucks an unfathomable amount of dick.

Posted by Anonymous | May 28, 2010 10:04 AM

Actually Foxy Shazam's new album is by far their best.
