"An Arizona woman who bought, what turned out to be, counterfeit Phoenix Coyotes playoff tickets helped police nab the suspected scalper with a picture of his license plate.

Mari Alfaro discovered the tickets for sale on Craigslist, and after meeting up with the alleged scalper, Mario Cox, she bought them for $200. But, according to a report on KTVK-TV, Alfaro had a funny feeling about the transaction, so before Cox could drive off she snapped a photo of his license plate." [Ticket news]

In the guy's apartment, they found other fake tickets including some for a Brooks & Dunn concert... The video news report is below...

"dude looks like the typical scalper you see outside t5"

and why is that?

The guys at Terminal 5 are fucking creepy. The head guy, the fat one with the round head, drools when he's trying to talk to you. He only has a few teeth left. Those guys go to every show, buying people's extra tickets for half face value, and selling them for twice or three times face value. They don't scam you, but they do make a shitload of money off you. They'll lie to you and say "yeah man I just bought diss for $70, gimme $80" when really they paid $20.

If you have an extra ticket, please sell it to a real fan, not those crack-ticket-whores

Brooks and Dunn - meh

As someone who works at venues you all go to around town - the #1 rule is ask the scalper if they will accompany you to ask a security guard or venue employee if they are real. If they won't do it, don't buy it. And NEVER buy the Ticketfast print-at-home tix. Only the first person scanned will get in - the other 30 people he sold copies to will get that sad sound the scanner makes when someone has already entered the venue using that ticket.

can attest to this; it really is a sad sound.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2010 6:24 PM

@6:24 not as sad as the sound at t5. why any one even goes to concerts there defies all logic.

5:14, I'd rather have those fucks than the ones selling fakes.
It was nice to have the option before "technology" to be able to buy tickets in the street or parking lot and not worry about fake tickets.

Soon the Phoenix Coyotes will return to Winnipeg where ice just happens.

In a pinch, I would rather buy from the guys outside the venues than people who inflate ticket prices on craig's list. The guys outside the venue usually will sell me a ticket at face value or $5-10 above the value. Fair enough, New York is all about a hustle here and hustle there.

The people on craig's list lately, however, are just about price gouging. No hustle really, they are just about pure theft.

Sorry, but any fool willing to spend money on Coyote tickets deserves to get hosed. How can such an idiot have the presence of mind to "protect her wretched investment". dumb. dumb. dumb.

"I find a lot of things on Craigslist."

She can find my penis on Craigslist.

Fact.
