Small Brown Bike

On friday I saw Small Brown Bike in NY at the Cake Shop in the Lower East Side... I walk to the Cake Shop. The entry level is a vegan bakery and bar, the downstairs is the music. Tthe 2nd of 4 bands [Your Skull My Closet] was on and they were SO GOOD. Like, blown away... I knew about 5 minutes in that this would be a special show. Then Bridge and Tunnel came on and were also insanely amazing. THEN Small Brown Bike come on and was perfect. One of the best shows ever. They haven't playing in NY in 7 years and the show was sold out and it was a... TRILLION degrees in there and we all just bonded over it... Really wonderful show, one of the best I've ever been to. -[stompthroughpuddles]The first band of the night was Let Me Run. It was the second show of the day for SBB & B&T, and it was a sweaty one indeed. Our trusty photographer Meghan was warding off lens fog for the duration of the SBB set, and heat and condensation in the basement of Cake Shop can mean only one thing: a tightly packed group of fans having a good time. Proof is in the pictures and video below...

Wasn't half as sweltering as everyone is making it sound. Wait until it's August!

is "stompthroughpuddles" 13? That review sounds SO BAD.

what a retarded name. I still refuse to ever listen to this band due to that.

let me run = zzzzzzzzzzzz. hey lets start an unoriginal band that sounds like everyone else in this particular scene. people are fucking stupid.
your skull my closet = author didn't mention the drummer used to be in SBB.
bridge and tunnel - way too talented musicians writing sesame street pop songs. waste of true/raw talent.
SBB - you shoulda been at the first Chicago show, bruh.

What a terribly written review.

It was a fun show... SBB and fans were having a great time. YSMC were very awesome... little bit of a Hot Snakes meets Fugazi meets Pixies twist. Not so into the other bands but SBB was really fun.

show was awesome. only caught bridge + tunnel and small brown bike but they both ruled.
too bad standing down there was a nightmare. never been to a sold out show at cake shop before and it was super gross.
btw, what is with that kid wearing sunglasses, in a few of the sbb photos? seriously dude? ...i cannot understand why people think that's "cool."

I think the sunglass guy is pretty funny-cool. As for that show... never seen so many people at Cake Shop.

okayyyy, i am the blog-writer.
If you go to it, you'll see VERY CLEARLY that the blog is only meant for me to read (zero comments on all of the posts & the overall horrific shittiness is a clue). Its to serve as a very rough documentation on certain things, mostly so I don't forget them. In fact, not a single person in my life knows about it.
There wasn't a "Oh do you want to write a review" "Okay, sure, I'll write the worst one ever" moment. It was a "let's find photos from friday... wait, seriously?" moment. So no shit its a super shitty review!
I mean, I don't care that it's used, but don't be hatin' on me, I sure as hell didn't ask for it to be read, by anyone.
(And, for the record, I know that the drummer of YSMC used to be in SBB & I've been going to nyc shows for over 10 years now & grew up here, I just haven't been active for the past 5 or so).

I like your review. Cake SHop is my fave NY spot since Coney Island High. Been here 12 years.

wow! Coney Island High!
Great show. I was there to see SBB, but I gotta say, YSMC stole the show for me. SBB was amazing though.
