The Goodnight Loving

Milwaukee's The Goodnight Loving will release their fourth album, The Goodnight Loving Supperclub, on July 20 on Portland's Dirtnap Records, their first for the label. The band will also be embarking on a big North American tour to show it off. New York stops include June 17 at Silent Barn, June 18 at Bruar Falls, June 19 at Cake Shop and June 20 at Maxwell's. The Maxwell's show is with Reigning Sound. Tickets are still on sale.

If you're unfamiliar with these fine Midwesterners, they channel the twangier side of the '60s British Invasion (Out of Our Heads era Stones, or the Kinks around Face to Face). You can download a slew of MP3s at the top of this post, including last year's great single "Nothing Conquers Us" and "The Pan" which is from their new album. If you're looking for more, the band just released a new 12" on Italian label Wild Honey that has five new tracks on one side, and some lovely silk-screened artwork on the flip.

I like a lot more troops composed of boys, I think it is purely subjective preference. The boys have different voices, with different and contrasting tones, which determines the idea of good music!
