U2

"Tour promoters Live Nation have confirmed that the 16 U2360° shows from Salt Lake City on June 3rd, through to New Jersey's Meadowlands Stadium on July 19th, will be rescheduled for 2011.

U2 tour producer/promoter Arthur Fogel, CEO of Live Nation Global Touring, said, 'Although we understand the disappointment to U2 fans, first and foremost comes the recovery of Bono.'

Chritina Aguilera cancelled her whole tour too!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 9:12 AM

How's that MEH guy gonna do U2?

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 9:21 AM

They don't deserve to be even considered for the 'meh' commentary...

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 9:25 AM

U2...they are too much into the theater of music. Compare their live experience to that of Pearl Jam. U2 needs fancy lights, huge stage setups and running around. Pearl Jam just need their intruments and rock it out for 3 hours playing anything in their entire catalog on any given night. Now that's a concert baby!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 9:35 AM

will go see the stones, madonna, the police, pearl jam, or the boss instead

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 9:35 AM

The real question is who will be replacing them as Glastonbury headliner this year.......

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 9:46 AM

Talking sh!t on U2???!?! Yes, their later catalog is lame, but name one band mentioned on BV that has EVER made a better album than Joshua Tree, Boy, War, Rattle and Hum, or Achtung Baby! Eat sh!t and listen to Dum Dum Girls you irrelevant morons!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 9:50 AM

The only replacement at Glastonbury that has the same amount of pull would be Radiohead. Wonder if Eavis could pull that off last minute.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 9:54 AM

I like all U2 up to Pop after that they lost me..Still a brilliant band none the less.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 9:55 AM

They could always get The Eagles to play Glastonbury...

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 10:06 AM

I'm not that into u2 but from an objective perspective.. all modern arena rock / anthemic rock / brit pop can be derived from a lot of the edge's guitar playing.

even something like the new the national album is very anthemic in a u2-esque way at times.

So you would also disregard contributions by Bowie, Queen, Elton John and others???

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 10:18 AM

Don't ever compare U2 to Bowie ever. EVER!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 10:22 AM

(9:50)......I can name a band that made better albums than U2.

O A S I S.

1994 - Definitely Maybe

1995 - Morning Glory

1997 - Be Here Now

1998 - The Masterplan (best b-sides album ever)

40th anniversary for Glastonbury with headliners: Muse, Stevie Wonder, and LCD Soundsystem!

hahha jk

and that is why a u2 concert is entertaining and a Pearl Jam show is the most boring thing on earth.

I know who could headline instead of U2....get those Libertines or Gorillaz boys out there!

POP was the last good U2 album. Everything after is......crap.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 10:40 AM

my mom listens to u2. she says it relaxes her

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 10:48 AM

This band lost me at Zooropa. That was complete crap. And not coincidentally, if my memory serves me correct, the corresponding tour started their use of the whole gaudy overwrought live stage setups. Up to Achtung Baby is an extremely impressive catalogue though.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 10:52 AM

When soccer moms start listening to a band, it is officially over. Pack it up and go home. U2, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, soccer mom territory. Not too many moms I know rock it out to "Hail Hail" or "RVM".

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 10:54 AM

Does anybody remember when U2 came out of a giant yellow Lemon to begin all their concerts on the POP tour? WOW...that was a really bad idea then and just looks absolutely TERRIBLE now. Get real Bono and company. Walk out on to that stage like men, fist in the air like you just won the World Cup. Don't scamper out like a Fuit of the Loom gang!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 10:59 AM

a lot of FAIL in these comments.

wow...talk about misinformed. they began those shows walking through the audience on the floor, bono dressed as a boxer and then launching into MOFO. i would file that under the category of "walking out onto the stage like men"

the lemon thing was for then encores.

Posted by javier buchananeversonia | May 25, 2010 11:11 AM

Even worse! You begin an encore like a war hero returning home to his loved ones. You don't come out of a lemon! A lemon! Come on!

Moms listen to U2 because the grew up listening to them. Hence, been around a long time as opposed to this flash in the pan Vivian Dum Dum nonsense!

...I really like the guy telling U2 how to put on a live show.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 11:19 AM

bono's brand is only going to go up when he makes a miraculous recovery

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 11:54 AM

@ "doucheiness"

the correct term is Douchebaggery. one never recovers. it's a lifelong syndrome. ask Bono. or Sting.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 11:55 AM

or EV or JM

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 11:59 AM

Major d-baggery move...Jim James changing stage-name to Yim Yames. Chill out dude, you are getting too big for your filp-flops.

ps - I used to LOVE MMJ, newest album was slightly bollocky.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 12:05 PM

STING > BONO

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 12:07 PM

I saw Pearl Jam at the Garden a few years back and practically fell asleep. To just come out in your handyman clothes and play like you are in your basement is fine for a small club, but for an arena tour it leaves a lot to be desired and is kinda insulting to your audience.

Pearl Jam sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 12:24 PM

in regard to the popmart tour and that monstrous stage set-up, those arches became the catwalk they use on todays tour, the vertigo tour and every subsequent tour since popmart. they own the shit and are making $ hand over fist. the rose bowl webcast was the most uninspired u2 i have ever seen. retodded.

Posted by barney | May 25, 2010 12:26 PM

sucks for interpol.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 12:29 PM

It amazes me that people will complain about spectacular visuals at a stadium show. Have you ever seen a stadium show without over the top visuals?..... zzzzzzzzz.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 12:34 PM

Stadium concerts blow, arena rock is where it is at.

Kurt Vile > Larry Mullen Jr.

yeah U2, whatever now... but oasis? they're as bland as they come.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 7:06 PM

if Bowie hadn't had a heart attack he'd be killing you bitches right
now.

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2010 8:21 PM

yeah, pearl jam sucks, but they rock like a rock band.
and yeah, u2 sucks (were only average for the first 4 years of their career), but unfortunately they're somewhat important.
and soccer moms like them both about the same. and if oasis existed, they'd be terrible. and titus, vivian, dum dum girls, etc. (who?/what?) says the world ten years from now while interpol prepares for opening night of their broadway musical.
so there-

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 12:00 PM

Neil Young actually puts on a better concert experience than Pearl Jam, U2, Radiohead, Bowie and Talking Heads.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2010 1:43 PM

The above is not true for U2. U2 puts on a far more enjoyable show than Neil Young. Neil Young would agree with me.
