Weezer

After playing a pair of Jersey shows at the Atlantic City Borgata and the Bamboozle on May 1st and 2nd, Weezer has announced a show in Brooklyn at Williamsburg Waterfront set for Friday, July 16th. Tickets go on AmEx presale Saturday, May 8th at 10am. AEG presale starts Thursday, May 13th at 10am. General sale is Friday May 14th at 11am.

By 10 years ago, do you mean 15 years ago?

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2010 3:50 PM

they were actually still touring pinkerton in 2000, but yea they threw in the towel a long time ago

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2010 3:57 PM

i don't think they were touring pinkerton in 2000, outside of maybe playing "tired of sex" at a few shows (?). they did tour it somewhat in 2002, actually.

Saw this band twice during the summer of 2000 - Stone Pony & Irving. Incredible gigs, aside from the fact that Brian Bell was bringing a bunch of sixteen year old girls back to his room post show.

I hope they play "Beverly Hills!!!!!!!!!!"

Has anyone been to a paid show there before...cant you just sit in the park next door and hear the music just fine?

Or hop the fence?

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2010 4:34 PM

weezer usually puts on a damn good show, in the psat two years i've seen them play pink triangle, surf wax, name is jonas, the good life, etc...

Posted by Slob | May 5, 2010 4:48 PM

the park closes at sundow so probably not.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2010 5:16 PM

The only reason I would give Weezer 54 dollars is if they decided to stop making music.

Posted by Anon | May 5, 2010 5:46 PM

I'd pay 54 bucks to see them if
A. They only played songs of the first two albums
B. Rivers stops running around on stage like an ass and just plays guitar.

I can't tell the Muppets from the humans!

first off, cleary $54 is way too much. secondly, i saw them at the garden about 2 years ago or so and they're doing weird things to keep themselves from being bored. i think scott sang my name is jonas, pat wilson plays guitar now... it's just bizarre and crass.

I saw them for free with 200 people at the PC Richards & Son Theater last year.

...and it was still a rip-off.

josh freese drums...

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2010 6:41 PM

rattitude is the best weezer album BY FAR!

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2010 7:22 PM

Thats Beeker on the bass.

Yeah some bands can pull of the duration but not Weezer. We all see what happened to the Rolling Stones. Sometimes it seems like Sonic Youth has Rolling stones syndrome too.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2010 5:47 AM

Really? You're comparing Weezer to the Rolling Stones? I think the Stones had a couple of decades where they were churning out some really great songs. Weezer may have had the first two albums.

Posted by Anon | May 6, 2010 12:21 PM

Primus will be better. Faith No More will be 2nd and Weezer will be Meh.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2010 5:24 PM

Negative comment about Weezer and random grumpiness...

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2010 6:08 PM

got my tix!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2010 11:17 AM

5:24 what bou't Modest Mouse and Band of Horses.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2010 12:16 PM

I cannot believe they want $54 per ticket. That is absolutely outrageous.

I went to see Band of Horses play the Williamsburg Waterfront last night as my first time to that venue. Security there was tighter than at an airport. The line for a 21+ bracelet was a mile long. Which is separate from the lines to get an actual drink. My friends and i actually just wanted to get some food, but the food tents were in the sectioned off area for those with 21+ bracelets. and by the way we're all over 30. The rest of the floor was also gated off and heavily guarded by event staff who would only let people in when it wasn't "at capacity" which they claimed even though there was clearly space inside and at least 20% of the audience was outside these barricades. So either the event staff were unnecessarily stringent with letting people into a show for which they paid a decent amount to see, or the event organizers sold more tickets than there was capacity. Whichever the case, this venue is a scam, and nothing like what McCarren used to be.
