Hillstock

Brooklyn DIY fest Hillstock will be returning this year for three days of music from June 11-13. It opens with a Friday show at Shea Stadium that features Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt!, the Eskalators, Ava Luna, The Toothaches, Fiasco and more. The second day is a backyard BBQ headlined by Aa, and the third is singer-songwriters on a rooftop.

Both three-day wrist bands ($15) and individual shows tickets ($7) will be available at the shows.

More info on tickets, venue locations, a full schedule of bands and videos from last year are below...

Hillstock

No tickets will be sold prior to the festival and a wristband guarantees your entry to all 3 shows. All other attendants will be admitted on a first come first serve basis. There's a good chance that all shows will sell out, so we advise showing up when doors open, especially if you don't have a wristband. This isn't a bad thing; you'll be catching a lot of really good bands this year.

"PowerPoint" and "ACLU Benefit" are names of actual bands? Meh.

note to people who start festivals

stop using "stock" and "palooza" in your festival's title

it's not entertaining anymore

veritable who's who of bands no one's ever heard of or cares about

Anyone one of these bands could be the next buzz band, friends. Catch them early and say you saw them way back when....

I, for one, only listen to bands that everyone's already heard of and are raving about! These bands usually come up out of nowhere, without playing any shows prior to their Pitchfork reviews, and never have to work hard to get somewhere (if that is, in fact, their goal... imagine playing music for no money, or god forbid, "entertainment" or "fun"). Then and only then, will I spend time caring and actually going to shows because I am lazy and need others to tell me when bands are good. MEHMEHMEHMEH!

Ghost Mall + Ava Luna = $7 well spent. Can't wait.

Anyone know if laura stevenson + the cans are playing on saturday also? because with the wild, kudrow and hop along playing, that would make a killer show O.O

Anon, 2:34 am:

Laura and the Cans are playing Sunday, according to the site.

"I, for one, only listen to bands that everyone's already heard of and are raving about!"

i think the previous commenters' point was that most of these bands blow, and that's why no one cares about them... terror pigeon sings over an ipod, for fuck's sake

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2010 11:51 AM

Terror Pigeon has a backing band now, 11:51.

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.

you dave haters can go fuck yourselves. bonnaroo 2010 was 4 of the best days of my life. the DMB and JayZ headliners at the main stage were two of the best shows I've ever seen, musically and production speaking. 2011 'roo is going to be amazing. Phish headlining?

they also played at a place called Tramps in april '99 losers. with qotsa. where were you? you guys sound pretty angry? go listen to something hip. whatever the fuck you think that is. why does james iha need to be in the band for them to be good? that makes no sense. so the band changed lineups. oh well.
