I gotta say this is pretty cool (No major label backing).. the randalls island show sold 40k tix if i remember right so this should probably sell out.

Um Aug 3rd or 4th? The post says two different things.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 11:44 AM

fanclub presale? details?

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 11:48 AM

August 4th. The tour date list was wrong. fixed, thanks

Posted by brooklynvegan | June 1, 2010 11:49 AM

the new album comes out Aug 3. The concert is Aug 4. learn to read.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 11:49 AM

belle and sebastian, arcade fire, take all my money.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 11:52 AM

Will Butler is the man

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 11:56 AM

Where and when is the club/secret show?

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 11:59 AM

Meh

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:00 PM

The two new songs suck. I'll go to MSG if they plan on playing Funeral front to back....which they won't.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:01 PM

please don't be insanely expensive.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:03 PM

the two new songs stink, but the live show is always great

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:06 PM

For Arcade Fire/Spoon you gotta expect at least tickets in the range of 50-60 and even higher. It will be worth it two considering it's two top tier bands in a huge venue.

Posted by Will | June 1, 2010 12:07 PM

Good for Arcade Fire. They deserve it. I just wish Naplam Death would open this show. Imagine seeing the poor lil faces of those 14 year olds.

Posted by Heavystreet | June 1, 2010 12:07 PM

I LOVE YOU.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:10 PM

how do i get in the fanclub

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:10 PM

MSG, good. Maybe some backlash will finally begin for this good, but way overrated band.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:14 PM

you kneejerk reaction retards don't know how to rate music anymore.

"month of may" is ok and about a minute too long. "the suburbs" definitely doesn't suck. their best? no. but it's a damn good track.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:15 PM

might actually leave my house aug 3rd and 4th since every dbag will be out of my sight

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:18 PM

this band hardly has the charisma to play 500 seat venues.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:22 PM

These guys are getting to big for their britches...

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:24 PM

Same night as Hot Chip at Central Park!

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:26 PM

when are they going to announce the smaller nyc secret shows?!

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:27 PM

tix for the boston show are $37-$42

Posted by javier buchananeversonia | June 1, 2010 12:30 PM

The only band i'll see at MSG is Depeche Mode.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:33 PM

Sellouts

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:36 PM

Meh.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:40 PM

Didn't Arcade Fire open for Spoon once upon a time?

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 12:42 PM

How is this selling out, 12:36? I guess you'd prefer them to play a few nights at a much smaller venue, which would most definitely sell out immediately... then you'd be on here complaining about how you couldn't get tickets.

Posted by M | June 1, 2010 12:52 PM

YES!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 1:01 PM

what makes Arcade Fire/Spoon 'top tier' bands? is there some tier guide that i missed?

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 1:05 PM

As of 1pm, the "Tickets for NYC show" link above returns a "There are no matching events in New York/Tri-State Area" for Arcade Fire.

No NYC tour date is mentioned on the Tour pages of Arcade Fire's website or that or Merge Records.

Posted by Dave B | June 1, 2010 1:05 PM

price: $49.50

"No NYC tour date is mentioned on the Tour pages of Arcade Fire's website or that or Merge Records. "

What is your point?

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 1:11 PM

8/2 Mann Center, Philadelphia, PA with SPOON also.

Um, the point is that this article says that Arcade Fire is playing MSG on 8/4 and provides a link to tickets, but there is no such date at the link, and no such date listed on the band's or record label's website.

Is that clear enough?

Posted by Dave B | June 1, 2010 1:18 PM

Much to my dismay the Toronto date listed here is wrong. It is 14th of August, not 12th of August (when the Red Sox are also in Toronto).

Posted by lp | June 1, 2010 1:20 PM

12:01 who cares if you go or not?
Spoon and Arcade fire? Sweet!

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 1:21 PM

"Is that clear enough?"

Still don't get your point Dave B

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 1:42 PM

1:10, add convenience charges = 67.50. And if you want a knish and a coke thats another 12 bucks

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 2:13 PM

You have to be a special kind of twat to eat a knish at an Arcade Fire show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 2:25 PM

SO YOUNG, SO YOUNG, SO MUCH PAIN FOR SOMEONE SO YOUNG WELLLLLL I KNOW IT'S HEAVY I KNOW IT AIN'T LIGHT, BUT HOW YOU GONNA LIFT IT WITH YOUR ARMSSSS FOLDEDDDD TTTTIGHHHTTTTTT

Posted by Winny B | June 1, 2010 2:55 PM

^congrats you identify with lyrics dashed off in the studio accompanied by music that could have been made 40 years ago

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 3:06 PM

I don't really see them as an arena band. Just saying.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 3:53 PM

AF have been an arena band since they started. Neighborhood #4 (Power Out) could not be more of an arena song.

Posted by Dan | June 1, 2010 4:04 PM

OVERrated! They should be touring with Paverment.

Posted by Peppermint eyeball | June 1, 2010 4:11 PM

Pavement should be 3rd opener.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 4:49 PM

AF please get Titus Andronicus or Girls or LCD Soundsystem to open below Spoon.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 4:51 PM

Arcade Fire/ Godspeed You Black Emperor at MSG. Thats what should happen. Imagine that... would love to hear GYBE through a massive soundsystem.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 6:21 PM

Hopefully they will add another one or two bigger acts like when they played Randall's Island.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 7:26 PM

1) It's Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)

2) What do you think, they should just play that for an hour and a half?

3) They should pick better song titles.

Posted by Anonymous | June 1, 2010 7:59 PM

I hope they play the car commercial they did.

Posted by Marlin | June 2, 2010 8:49 AM

There is nothing remotely compatible about Godspeed You! and Madison Square Garden.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 11:35 PM

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.

you dave haters can go fuck yourselves. bonnaroo 2010 was 4 of the best days of my life. the DMB and JayZ headliners at the main stage were two of the best shows I've ever seen, musically and production speaking. 2011 'roo is going to be amazing. Phish headlining?

they also played at a place called Tramps in april '99 losers. with qotsa. where were you? you guys sound pretty angry? go listen to something hip. whatever the fuck you think that is. why does james iha need to be in the band for them to be good? that makes no sense. so the band changed lineups. oh well.

Congratulations to Arcade Fire for their Album of the Year Grammy! It is well-deserved. They've worked hard for years with little recognition.

Wonderful post and the location is beautiful and elegant in design and information and everything>>> to Favorites
Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
