DOWNLOAD: Au Revoir Simone - Shadows (Jens Lekman Remix) (MP3)

Au Revoir Simone

Just like nearly every other Brooklyn band, Au Revoir Simone is playing this weekend's Northside Festival. Their show is Thursday (6/24) at Warsaw, where they play with The Hundred in the Hands and CALLmeKAT. The ladies are then heading off on a short summer tour of North America in July. All dates are at the bottom of this post.

Meanwhile, on July 6 Au Revoir Simone release Night Light, a compilation of tracks from last year's Still Night, Still Light that have been remixed by the likes of Neon Indian, Aeroplane, Angel Deradoorian, Jens Lekman, Your Twenties, Tanlines and more. You can download the Jens Lekman remix of "Shadows" at the top of this post which is one of the more idiosyncratic on the compilation, turning the 4/4 time song into a string-laden waltz.

Au Revoir Simone tour dates are after the jump...

I thought they broke up. Neon indian remix of them is really good.

Best way to describe this band?

To paraphrase Freaks and Geeks, "music is boring, chicks are hot!"

Do you think they are "making a statement"in this photo?

They are listening to the audio tour at the Met in that photo, not texting as everyone seems to assume. And no, they are not broken up, but Heather D'Angelo is back in school full time. They are doing some touring this Summer - not sure if they are going to head to Europe and UK for festival season...Future seems uncertain for them. Doing a whole new album might be too much work and time to balance with school. Maybe they will just go on hiatus for a bit. I hope not. Will Annie go full-time into Uninhabitable Mansions? Will Erika go solo or hook up with a folky guitarist/keyboardist? Will heather figure out how to save the Gulf Coast or find clues to existence at FERMI Lab, join the LHC team in Switzerland or discover evidence of life in the deep universe? I have seen them a lot over the past 5+ years, and they were fantastic last night even though the sound system at Warsaw was bassed out so badly it ate up their mid-range (aka 60% of their songs!), but ended with a heart felt yet poignantly funny version of Don Henley's Boys of Summer. Really well done!
