Beirut @ BAM in February 2009 (more by Natasha Ryan)

The last time Beirut played in NYC, they did a four-show week, with gigs at Coco 66, MHOW and two at BAM.

Zach Condon and Beirut now have shows in Europe scheduled for August. In advance of those, they'll play a pair of shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Monday, July 5th and Tuesday, July 6th. Woom, the ex-Flying pop duo previously featured here, open both dates.

Tickets for Tuesday, the second show, are $25 and go on AmEx presale Wednesday at noon. General sale starts Friday at noon.

Tickets for Monday, the first show, are $9.99 and can only be purchased in advance and in-person from the Bowery box offices at Mercury Lounge and Music Hall of Williamsburg starting Saturday at noon (though Ticketmaster says they go on sale online Saturday at noon... I'm told they actually won't go on sale online.).

Before then, Woom play a pair of Northside Festival shows on June 25th at Bruar Falls (lineup TBA) and June 26th at Shea Stadium with Ducktails, Big Troubles, Arches, Dana Jewell and No Demons Here.

Hey Everyone, The first show on July 5th is an 18+ show, the second is 21+. We wanted to make sure all those of you without credit cards of your own or superspeed internet connections are able to potentially get tickets, hence why the $9.99 is only available at the box office and won't carry any handling fees.

Looking forward to seeing all you pale skins' post-Independence day sunburns!

oh goodness. thanks for the head's up that monday's show will be 18+. i was going to try to go to that one but now will try for tuesday's to avoid the children.

any reason one show is $10 and the other is $25? Are they going to be a different type of show? Or is it just because the $10 one isn't for sale online.... i'm a little confused.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 2:37 PM

2:20, almost every MHOW show is 18+, and there's never an issue of "children". It's not like the 18+ shows are packed with 18-21 year olds. But to each his own.

I might be able to get tickets at the Mercury Lounge on Saturday, I just hope they don't sell out really quickly, because I won't get there 'till the afternoon.

We try to do shows for as cheap as realistically possible, especially "warm up" shows. Our thinking is, if you're really strapped for cash, then here's a chance to see Beirut for under $10 (a summer special) - you just need to haul ass and wait online to purchase tickets. If you'd prefer the convenience of buying a ticket online in your boxer briefs, then you won't get the special deal, but have to pay the still entirely reasonable sum of $25 plus outrageously unreasonable handling charges from everyone's favorite Fuhrer, Ticketmaster.

The 18+ show is $9.99. You know...for kids.

3:44- how does he know i have boxer briefs on- my pants are covering them (oops, no they're not)

Posted by donn | June 15, 2010 4:01 PM

More medium/big bands need to do small, cheap "warm-up" shows. It's not a new concept, but a good one....

2:20 - yeah, like you're so much older than the average MHOW concertgoer. elitist fuck.
